Further to my tests with the new camcorder I decided to take it with me on my morning walk.
I must say I'm still not impressed. It is very hard to hold steady during filming and the auto focus can not keep up with the zoom.
The sound is nowhere near the quality of my other camcorder, and the overall picture quality is very disappointing.
Here is the result.

Hi Sandy, I think your video looks ok. It will look even better on a nice sunny day when there is more contrast from the available light.
As for zooming. The processor will always have to work twice as hard when zooming in as it does zooming out. I always prefer to zoom in whilst in pause and zoom out in record. Or better still just capture and cut at whatever level of zoom selected.

I think I'm asking too much of this little camcorder by comparing it to my other much up market model.
I'm still plugging away with it though. I'm not sure I've got all the settings quite right yet.
