Jeez, Wallace.
I don't think I've ever seen so many engines under steam at one time
How long did it take to set all those up mate???
tmuir
Ok Wallace you win!
I don't think I even have that many burners to run that many engines at once.
How many litres of water and mills of meths did you use?
Wallace
Thanks guys. About 5hrs from start to finish. 1/2litre of meths (some failures) and unsure of water.
Raised the humidity in the garage to 100% and temp by about 15 degs cels
Les
I never expected to see that many running at once.
Roly Williams
Impressive. How many engines did you have on the go together?
johnreid
The temperature and humidity level went up on that one I bet
Compound
Imsuprised the whole garage didnt start to vibrate down the street
madeinenglang
Absolutely wonderful collection and video
TE1DRIVER
wow that is truly awe inspiring.
barry1946
Great sound from all the engines running together. Is it a world record? All those engines running at the same time on one table? Bet it is!
steamgranny
'Filmed on location in the garage'..... Love it!!
And I thought firing up 2 or 3 together was something of an achievment! That's amazing & don't know how you managed single handed
MooseMan
That was AMAZING!!!!!!
Ross
Fantastic!
I am inspired by your wilesco workshop it makes me want to make one now
Dauntless
Wow thats wonderful Wallace,
and to think I thought I was doing well this afternoon running engines and I only managed one at a time!
thanks
Paul

That was fantastic Wallace. What a great sight and sound!
Wallace
Thanks for the comments. I'll add some more info in the chat room
Time for a few pics. I decided to go with my favourite engines. I like all a real lot, but these ones just stand out for me.
SE2a. The one that started it all. To think I bought it just as one of those gadgets. Only this time it didn't get used once then lost in some forbidden garage corner. It became a hobby
SE3. The essential Mamod. A looker and a workhorse
Pre War SE1. Bought with the regulator mod. At the time of it's ebay listing it was classed as rubbish due to the mod. I saw it's beauty so happily adopted it like picking up a lonely pet from the RSPCA
SE1. Another bragain. Soldering work was done and off she went
Yet another SE1 and another bargain but required a lot more work to make respectable
MM2 with accessories. I just wanted the brass flatbase combination
Challenger. Just a weapon of an engine. Packed with power
Steamco. It's Aussie, and built like a brick $#!@house
SW1. ALways the elusive engine to me but the missus finally scored one as a Fathers day present from the kids. First appearence on the forum
The next pic is a "what was I thinking" moment An arty attempt at a pic collage called "The arrival". I wanted to show the package, the contents, the layout, the prep, and the steaming. Thats what I did, but the effect is another matter
It's no wonder I never took art at school

Cheers. It was 7 engines on steam plus 2 more on air.
It was meant to be 8 on steam but I overfilled the Disc crank MM1, and it just refused to run
Wallace
This next vid is fresh from filming.
I started the layout a week ago and added to it when I had some spare time. Finally filmed it this morning after final mods of getting a new main pulley. Hardest bit was getting 2 meccano axles that were straight. It didn't happen, but close enough to let things work. The Jensen and Wilesco workshop were already made
2 points of interest. The oring material for drive bands just can't be beat.
You may notice a red medium size pulley next to the large black drive pulley. I was sure that it would fail that I would need a 2nd engine to help keep power up.
I was way wrong I had no idea it would get to the speed it did. At the end of the vid you might notice the Bing dredge not going. It got up too much speed and threw the chain.
And yes, in excitement of it working and busy filming, I forgot all about using the regulator
Les
That's amazing Wallace, how many accessories in total did you have working??
Sandman
Great pics and an ace video Wallace.
Great to see the SE3 doing what it was built to do. Work hard.
What a treat mate.

Is that all - it looked more than that
Wallace
I truly didn't think it would run when I turned the main lineshaft by hand. Once I hooked the engine up with the final drive belt and turned the flywheel things were looking promising.
Les, I just went out and counted them. 18 individual accessories and 4 lineshafts. I didn't even know I had that many
Les
Thanks for letting us know, 18 to beat eh.
Mamodman123
Wow that SE3 ran all that and faultless too! Brilliant video mate and I know how much effort goes into making these workshops, it's not easy. If you get one press too tight it will stop the whole lot and bind.
As for the flatbases, perfecto
That is the best Mamod workshop I have seen, its not too big and bulky everything on there is right for the engine and era. Also good to see a bit of wood.
Brilliant stuff so far mate

Yep that's the target I had 4 other accesories I didn't add and, 1 was forgetfullness, the other 3 were laziness .
Oh, and I thought I'd be struggling to run what I did. Plan B was adding a MM2. Plan C was using the Jensen 75 or Challenger
I couldn't be more wrong
psantama
Wow, never seen anything like that before. Excellent video. Talk about mechanical motion
27ace27
you had quite a din there in your first vid! The most engines I've had going at once is two my jensen 60 (late version) and my wilesco D16. Excellent job on all the vids BTW!
Wallace
Thanks for the nice comments. It's appreciated
Now my final video. The other attempt at something didn't work. I'll try it again one day.
I thought a live diorama would be different, but it just didn't turn out like I wanted. The "blue sky" background got shadowed by my bonsai and to add I caught the corners blue sky in shot.
Anyway, it was fun doing it and special as my daughter helped me with the layout.
The Carosuel was going to be powered by a dynamo. It had the voltage, but I needed AC. I didn't want to risk damage, so I sat them together and ran them
I bought the carosuel as a gift to my daughter when she was born,
Irritating music is from the carosuel.
Thanks all for watching, participating, the judges, and to those who made it all happen. Looking forward to next year
kusuchi
Wallace, not seen that carousel before. Any info on manufacturer and date?
Wallace
Sure Richard.
MR Christmas Inc is the brand.
Company was set up in 1933 by Merril Hermanson, a leading designer in Christmas Collectibles.
Made 2003 or just before. I bought it when it was new stock
The music it plays can be swtiched to Christmas Carols
I have a corgi one that is nice but no motor. That's how they sell them, yet it's designed to be powered by a specific motor . Later in the week I'll get pics of it
ozsteamdemon
Very nice indeed , another excellent vid , well done Wallace .
Les
Good video and I love the carousell.
Mamodman123
That was brilliant mate, one of my favourite tables this year
Roly Williams
A great idea. It almost worked. You should be able to crop the clips in Windows Movie Maker or something similar.
Sandman
What a great video Wallace.
I thought it captured the mood perfectly.
You would think that the carousel was indeed being driven by the TE.
What a tasteful presentation.
Well done mate. Excellent.

I would have to agree with you on that Sandy I had to look twice.
