Walter's STABIL constuction set

Look what fell off santa's slate...
A bit too early but i do not want to nag

Got these Boxes last week.
It seems ALL the parts are there, just mixed among the boxes...
the parts are all nickel plated...and in very good shape
The parts used to corrode, as the finish gets damaged whilst playing.
So these contructions sets were very little played with....
And, these meccano-like parts and boxes can be dated (due to the cover photo) to be built in the 1930's

Here are the pics:

Oh...and the best is: I got them FREE
A relative (from my girlfriend's mom) gave it to me. It belonged once her husband, who passed away some yers ago...this man became 90 years old

Wow, that is in such good condition. And the price was right too! You are lucky.

Thats in great condition.
Your right the nickle plating hardly ever survives, all the nickel plated parts I have are in my box of scrap parts as they are so badly damaged.
Nice score, are you planning on building a model with them?

Mirko, I'm sure the 90 year old former owner would have been delighted to know his prized set of Stabil found it's way to a collector like yourself.  Congrats!

Wallace

Great buy Mirko. They are in fantastic condition.
Sandman

I bet there's not many sets left in that condition.

Great to see Mirko.

No, i do not...i want to leave them as they are....
Just have to sort them in the right way.
But no models with that...i do not want to scratch and bent them now, as they survied may yers without damage

But i have my black marklin contruction parts...and a big lot of brass wheels and gearparts.
So when time allows i will build something with them

Fair enough just be careful how you store them.
One of the reasons Meccano set 10 Nickle sets are usually stuffed is the set 10s come in a beautiful oak box but apparently humidity reacts with the oak and actually turns the air mildly acidic which is what ruins the Nickle. My point is make sure you store them in a safe environment.

By the way...the instruction leaflet says to prevent the parts from rusting it's good to clean them, from time to time, with terpentine
tmuir

That would do it, would leave a fine film of oil.
I use camellia oil to protect my tools and other metal items.
It was originally used in China to protect samurai swords and then after that wood work tools. Its very fine and doesn't leave a heavy oily finish so its even good to use on my Jewellers hammers and anvils
