WANTED: Fleischmann 236 Sausage Maker and 224 Eccentric Pres

Don't see too many of these come up on ebay, so if anyone is hoarding and is wanting some honest ROI, then...

Will pay good price commensurate to condition (but must be complete and working) - with original box(es) preferable, but not essential.

Probably your best bet is German eBay, I got my sausagemaker from Begium, MIB, for just over $120.00 a couple of years ago.

I'm sure one of our German members, like Dampfzauberer (Mirko) could help.

Cheers

Chris

I had to wait a while to get my sausage maker, but did eventually and it wasn't too expensive (about $40 at most I think). Many items it seems, appear to be rare and then suddenly the market is flooded. That's what happened with me. There were about 3 of them going at much the same time.

I think you are right.  I just need to be patient.

What we need is a magic search engine that lets you know when one pops up on ebay
Les

Are you going for the whole set?

Actually there is one. I don't categorize as magic. It has shortcomings, but it does work.

In this case, do an eBay search for "Fleischmann". In the US the appropriate group to search in would be Toys & Hobbies. Yours may be different. Then save the search (you can do that) and you can quickly search for it at will. eBay can also notify you by email when items meeting your search criteria are available.

That particular search, of course, will give you all "Fleischmann" items but there aren't that many, so you won't be overwhelmed. It would be an idea to do one for "sausage" as not all sellers know the origin of their items or get them wrong (Heischmann is a favorite error). Worth using any other search words that you think might yield the treasure. The email notification works but tends to be a bit slow, so don't rely on it entirely. That way you may miss the one that goes for a BIN of $3.99.

not at the minute... too much other stuff to sort out first..

..but thanks for the very handy link though, much appreciated.

draconus

actually there is one (Eccentric Press) on US ebay, got a reserve of US$100 on it with 5 days to go.....  i'll keep an eye on that one... i'd probably go the $100....but we'll see what happens...

he's got a table saw too for the same reserve...

both look in good condition with boxes...
Les

You should look at German ebay, they are sometimes cheaper although you may need a proxy bidder when they do not accept Paypal.

If I might amend that a little. I said that you wouldn't be overwhelmed by just using "Fleischmann" but I forget about all their railway stuff. So better to qualify that by adding "steam" or "accessory" and perhaps "-loco -train -locomotive" etc to narrow the search.

When I retrospectively tested my own advice using just "Fleischmann" I got 690 hits

I go 'Fleischmann' in the sub category 'Vintage & Antique Toys'.

That's a very sensible move, but "Fleischmann steam" in Models & Kits for example (I haven't checked the other categories ) yields 4 hits, one of which is an albeit heftily priced accessory. None are listed under Vintage & Antique Toys. Nevertheless, I see there is indeed a sausage maker under Vintage and Antiques Toys but US shipping only:

By the way, if one does a search on the whole of US eBay for "Wurstmaschine" it's the only hit

PS: I found a few more accessories listed only under "Model & Kits" amazingly including the 224.

Just in case you miss my previous post mentioning this 224:

Yeah thanks, already found that 224. In my watch list - his reserve starts at US$99.99. As I said, I don't mind at all paying a good price, but as there are still 5 days to go - this price might get a little silly.  We'll see...

Thanks
