From the look of the cylinders, drivers, and the cab, I would have to say that looks alot like a Porter locomotive. Very nice purchase. Also a nice way to get into Grand Scale railroading (I believe it is called).
There is a guy in our local 'model railroad' group who is scratchbuilding for the last 5 years, what I think is a 3" scale, 7 1/2" gauge Mason Forney (2-6-6t). He belongs to the Adobe Mountain group up in Phoenix, and will be running it on their trackage.
Sorry about the wait that you will have to endure, but, it will pay off nicely.

correct, it is a Porter, most likely to the Marie Estelle design (very popular in the UK!)
|

the gentleman who built it is the seller and he is from Scunthorpe and he is returning back there in Nov. selling everything up and heading home

My sentiments exactly!

In Canada the "caboose" is called the "van" by most railroaders. I reckon you can call it whatever you like. Sometimes the little four-wheeled ones like yours are called "bobbers". They were common on logging railroads.
I'll bet you can't sleep right now, because you keep getting up to look at the engine. Must be exciting.
|
steamgranny

Wonderful!!!
And didn't realize it came with the superbly detailed caboose/van or whatever...
Really looking forward to seeing this in action
You lucky people!

Well........ That`s the first step out of the way.......
Roll on next weekend! (?)

|
"Trained"...pfff. Did you tell them you've been practicing with Mamod locomotives at home?
|
johnreid

I assume the training has to be done for insurance purposes. I am sure it will go quixkly and wasily. I am still so envious.

David Im afraid next weekends out as we have to visit Jills dad
John yes its for insurance purposes. last weekend they had over 200 guests turn up for the running day
parking space was a little short

I was right? oh dear I am sad!
A very nice bit of kit. I especially like the caboose. Theres a chap in the next street with a UK brake van with the same level of detail.

its a very nice engine! my uncle built a engine of that size from a kit. after he finished it he decided that he was too old to crouch down to work the controls so he sold it and bought a bigger one!

G'day Graham
Congratulations on your purchase. Have you driven it yet?
I have recently done the same thing by purchasing a 5" gauge British outline 0-4-0 saddle tank. I have planned to build one for a while but the loco come at a price that was less than the materials for a new job. It is well built and runs well.
Yep! I know I must post some pictures.
I'll start a new thread.
Regards
Ian
