Weeden boiler repairHello all,
I have a weeden vertical, possibly a #339 alcohol engine
that has a small leak at the base of the boiler. What is the best method to repair this? I believe the boiler is tin?
I appreciate any info,

Solder.
I a weeden with a tin (steel) boiler where someone took a knife and stabbed a hole in it Made a patch with another piece of metal and soldered it in. I also soldered up some pinholes. It ran good
Just clean and solder the hole with a soldering iron or small torch. Keep the heat away from the crank and flywheel, they are made of lead and will melt

For safeties sake the patch should be soldiered to the inside of the boiler so the pressure holds it in place, not on the outside where the pressure wants to blow it off, especially if it is in the base where the burner flames are.
If the boiler is tin you should check it for other rust spots.
You don't want it to fail under pressure.

Wish you well here...Tin boilers that are old scare me....Tin boilers that are new will soon rot also....
It might be paper thin in other places also....
Be careful!

Thanx for the feedback...
I was practicing soldering an old boiler
(it is only for parts), and it was impossible to solder it. and I can
now see pinholes. So I don't think I will be able to repair. The tin didn't take solder, using a high temp iron & also trying a small torch.
If I could get the boiler to take solder quickly maybe, but it rejects solder with flux as well.
