Hi all , here is a project i been working on for a long time .
I bought this old engine as a wreck in 07 , bought spare guage glass and decals in 08 , and started work on her about 3 months ago , got sidetracked several times along the way ...........
Anyway after all the excitment of STWWWW , i was keen to finish her off before i move into my next construction phase .
Here she is , i hope you like it .

Beautiful restoration. great runner.
ozsteamdemon
Thanks Clinton .
Hey , i like your new avitar mate .
Les
It looks and sounds great.
Sandman
What a fine restoration.
Well done.
Dampfmaschine
Very nice - Strange they never made it with a frame that the burner would actually sit in. Bit of a bummer that your nice paint job got burned on the first steaming.
Roly Williams
Good restoration, and ran first time! What more could you want?
Was that VHT paint on the frame?
That engine, or a similar, has been on my want list for a while.

The man can solder onto lead. , that is a very skillful restoration.
A good runner too. Do not let the scorched paint bother you as now you can run it without feeling bad

Nice job of rejuvenation there Geoff. Something about the Weeden 14 has kept my interest for years...will likely get one some time when stars are aligned! BTW...you can get repro governors for that model from Classic Tin Toys...maybe a burner too.

Thanks for the comments guys .
I`ve seen where people can reply with multiple quotes in one reply , but me being the puter dummy that i am havent figured out how to do that yet , so i`ll do it the hard way .
Dampfsmachine , sorry i forgot your name mate ....... never mind about the paint , i dont mind the burn marks as i will fire it again a few more times , and am waiting for the patina to return on the boiler .
Roly , no VHT , i just used normal gloss enamel ......... big mistake i`m thinking .
John , exactly right , i wont feel bad about running her , i`m thinking that the used look will suit this one .
Rog , i`m sure you will find one , i`ve seen good ones and wrecks since i got mine . Thanks for the tip on governers and burners , i`ll go look .
IndianaRog
Geoff, here is the link to Classic Tin Toys for Weeden parts...
Thanks Rog , you saved me the trouble of searching them out , i`m not sure if i would have found them .
I think i will buy a governor if they are still available , but i have seen pics of the burner and might have a go at making one myself .

Excellent!! Has a nice chunky sound. Reminds me of my Empire 43... But your Weeden is much prettier!
Les
It reminds me, I must get on with my one.

Great job.
I've always liked the look of that Weeden but all the lead parts has kept me away from getting one as I've heard of horror stories of people melting steam domes when trying to fix them.
My red on my Scorpion horizontal was VHT brake calliper paint and it burnt too.
Don't think red stands up to direct flames too well.

I think any colour of VHT paint will loose it's colour in direct contact with flame. After all, even VHT paint is only good up to about 500C. Meths flame is probably much higher than that. But it does retain it's finish, at least for much longer than ordinary paint.
