What is the thread used on a PM research whistle???

I know several folks here have bought that whistle and had adaptors machined to fit specific engines.

I would like to get one but need to know the thread so I can get an adaptor made to fit a Jensen boiler.

Help?

From their website, hope this helps.

Authentic scale model Steam Whistle with adjustable pitch. This beautiful little whistle has a nice crisp tone. It looks and works just like its full-size predecessor. Cast bronze valve and handle with brass pipe. Thread size 1/4-40, 2 3/4" high. Let her blow!

Glenn, thanks for the info...but I hope I CAN get it to work, as I want to put it on my Jensen 51 replica boiler.  5 inch x 10 inch boiler with 1620 watts of immersion rod heaters inside.  I can get and maintain 30 PSI easily, even with it running flat out under full load.

I want to do it for two reasons...
1) Jensen in my opinion used too small a whistle on that size of boiler...same whistle used on even the smallest Jensen was used on the 50's and 51's...should be twice as big at least just to look proportional!

2) I want to blow it occasionally

Glenn, if you think you could make me such an adapter in brass, I would gladly pay you for it and the shipping...just let me know...I would have to look up the thread in a Jensen boiler top, or maybe you know it already.

cheers,
Rog

its no problem to make an adaptor.   i would need to check the thread of a jensen . i had no idea the jensen boiler was so BIG !!!!yes that would power it!!! so your engine has a standard 3 inch boiler!!! (10 by 3 ) wow im starting to see the appeal of the jensens!

The Jensen 50 boiler has 3 immersion heaters as seen on Roger's and the most recent Jensen 50 built (5-6 years ago) had 2  660 watt heaters.

Hi Glenn,

My 5" x 10" Jensen 50 boiler originally had three 300 watt immersion rod heaters for 900 watts total.  When I converted the 50 to a replica 51, I replaced two of the three rods with the newer 660 watt version...now total of 1620 watts.  She boils fast and furiously!   It does not have any superheater tubes since the heat is applied internally, much like an electric hot water heater.

The Jensen 50/51 boiler is the oddity in the Jensen line, much more common to have a 2.5 inch x 6 inch of the size Clinton got from me, or 3 inch x 6 inch is the next size up.  They make a couple of smaller sizes I don't recall measurement on, but they are used on their Jensen 60 and 85 models.

I need to look up the thread on the Jensen whistle hole...it is the same for every boiler they make...I will let you know.
