My question:
What kind of mamod is this and how old is it?

Thank you
Les

I think it is a SE2 but not sure date wise.
Nick

It's got a good burner.

Quote:
Proper meths type burner, not the modern solid fuel 'nanny' state stuff.

It is a SE2 which I think is superior to a SE2A, You should enjoy it Mirko.

Will do so!
I was looking quite long for a nice mamod with that funny exhaust pipe thing

the only bad thing are the shipping costs: 7,50 GBP for UK shipping...
Raide Baron

It is my heart's engine because it was my toy "when I was child"...

I still love it, but the original burner is missing, as the front cap.
Atticman

Its a nice SE2 Mirko, good price.

The SE1 and 1a have no whistle

SE2 has a speed regulator handle at the start of the exhaust pipe.

I dont think that SE2s ever had the solid fuel burner, my early SE2a has a vap burner like this one does

The SE2a has the reversing handle, as others have said.

Date wise its one of the last with the old style whistle, at a stab I would say early 70s    edit heres MMs 5th one down, very similar late 1960s http://www.toysteambible.org/Mamod/SE2.htm

Where has Mamodman gone I wonder
CCairns

From the Bible -

1965 Red Window carton for SE2.

1967 SE2A introduced

Thus your Mamod SE2 is 1965 - 1967, with the Red Window Carton missing it's window material! Otherwise a nice looking engine, completev with burner, funnel & leaflet.

SE2's did not have Solid Fuel trays, they were introduced in 1976 for export engines, and standard for all engines in 1977.
