What shall I do with this little Bowman

You may remember I got this little M175 a little while ago. I've finished restoring it to running order, new steampipes etc, but now I'm wondering what to do....I normally go for a full restoration, but I also kind of like the way it looks now. What does the forum think?

James

I think you should sell me it the way it is now

Now how did I know you were going to say that!
James

You know me too well mate, too well
Steve_S

I would be inclined to give it the full treatment, but it does look quite appealing as it is. You could leave it for a while and see what you think in a few months time... nothings spoiling!
James

Would ya sell it mate?
Graham-Jilly

Nice to see it running so well Mooseman. It is the age old question about repainting or not isn't it. If you like it as it is you can leave it >>> can always paint it in the future but you cannot UNpaint it. Cheers Jilly

Little bugger really cranks it out!

Your skills at redoing Bowmans is legendary,
so why deprive the baby of papa's love?
Chris

You feeling ok James? Not poorly are you?

Offering to buy it?

I would have thought you would suggest he just give it to you.

Mind you Mooseman, if you are thinking of just giving it away...

I think I would leave it as it is. As others have said you can always do the paint job at a later date. Personally I like old things to show a bit of age and a bit of wear. Just my opinion though.

James i thought you were bying a 2inch scale Clayton steam wagon

Nice Bowman. Can i have the measurments of the gears as the ones on mine are missing. Hopefully i can find a sutiable replacement.

Sorry mate, it's a keeper. I'm pretty close to completing the Bowman lineup...just need to find a 140 and a 167. I did have a 140, but I sold it to raise funds for my Arrow - no regrets!

Looks like the jury's hung on the "paint or no paint" question!
I guess I'll leave it like it is for now - I'm up to my eyeballs in restoration work anyway, not that I'm complaining.

Speaking of which - I'm just about to post a question in the technical board - have a look if you have a mo'.

MM, it looks good "as is"

Thanks Clinton!

Talk about coincidence, Odilon.

I've been thinking about my own M175.

It's in much the same condition.

For myself, I think I'll restore fully. (Pic Below)

Great runner Mooseman. Very nice

Personally I'd restore it. A big amount of paint loss on the base would be enough for me to restore it.

It's a very nice engine though mate

I wouldn't it looks fine SM!

I would leave as is Moosey, maybe dwell on the thought for a bit longer. At least then at some point you can fully restore, but once the original paint is off, it is off!

My 135 base has very little paint left, but I'm not going to restore it at all makes it easier to run then

It's a cracker of an engine Moosey! I woul definatly keep it as is

Now that's weird - even the little dent in the boiler's in the same place!
James

I knew you wouldn't sell it mate

I would keep both Moosey's and Sandy's original... just by opinion though

Technically it's not a 'proper' Bowman

The little M140 is my personal favourite
