Arrived today, a Bing, heres the ebay pic,

Was very surprised to find out what the box was- more pics coming up later. Any ideas in the meantime?

Good try, its steam related though   .

Engine is similar to one of Indiana Rogs http://www.toysteambible.org/Bing/130-605.htm

Mirko will know more, but I think its a Bing Locomobile
Les Marsh

Is it the original box for the engine?

Very nice engine by the way.

Thanks Les, i was hoping it was, but it isnt- to give a bigger clue some others on here have got a box like this.

Very pleased with it, was badly listed, seller had 4 feedbacks, only saw it half hour before it was sold. Has water level, pressure guage and burner. neither those nor box was mentioned.
Les Marsh

Not a Mamod SE3 box??

Well done John, would you have guessed from the picture without the clue

Its a M122 box with hinges (metal bits like yours

Sent padded with one wrapping of brown paper

Glad there was no fork lift truck driving in our post office

Cheers Tom, yes its pretty big, I think fairly late though for Bing, chimney is poorly fixed on, Pressure guage is hanging off , but its mostly there
IndianaRog

From the looks of the cover (split piece)...I would say it is a Bowman box as well.
Les Marsh

Have you a 122 to go in it?

Luckily i have- been my Dads from new, but the original box went years ago
johnreid

Cool it is like winning two auctions then isnt it?
That is too cool

... that will be one nice resto project! Can you mend the pressure gauge or will it need a new one?

Will post pics soon, sorry guys.

Things needing sorted are

Needs a ladder that used to run to a small "inspection platform" by the slide valve
Pressure guage just needs soldering by the looks it unscrews so the back bit can be resoldered, I blew gently into it and it works
The burner handle has fallen off , but has been supplied,
The SV is present and needs to replace the bolt currently in the boiler
The level glass is fine but the O rings seem to have melted a bit, so it may leak
Chimney attachment is loose

Lots of pretty easy stuff really,

Nearly fell off the chair when saw Bowman on the side of the box, esp M122
toxx

... I've a small ladder from my Wilesco D455 - it's metal, red, and 8,3cm long. Could you use it for the Bing? If so, it's yours ...
johnreid

All of those things sound like they will be easily repaired, I love the looks of the engine too. I am sure looking forward to more photos.
Atticman

Thanks guys, here are the pics, not the best as they were taken in a hurry
On arrival

Came with its matches (one and a half P!) and some Humbrol paint

the box!

Size in comparison to a MM1 boiler

and another Bing overtype

More on their way .........

The pressure guage needs soldering.....

Absent ladder, thanks for the offer Tom, I will measure

I like the litho on this base

Forgot, the firebox is a bit burn

and is this a mop in the burner

johnreid

That is truly a thing of beauty, I hope you have it running real soon. That box is an added plus if there ever was one, it looks to be in real good condition too.
Mamodman123

You lucky SOB with the bowman box!

nice engine though
Atticman

Thanks John, its the best Bowman box for stationaries Ive got, not as good as your M135, but its our only complete one.

I think the guage needs soldering then i will try steamong it with the right SV in
oldstuff

It's a treat for me just seeing the engine. Plus you got a box for dad's 122.
Even the matches are cool. What a nice win, congrats Atticman!!
Sandman

I can't add much more to what has already been said.

A great buy and just so interesting.

I await the video in great suspense.
Les Marsh

It looks great and the base is in such wonderful condition.
johnreid

I love how they went through all of the trouble to do the bases like that. Today that would be too much work and thus make it too expensive.

Some day I hope to have one like that, but for now I will be happy with the less expensive and more easily obtainable. I do appreciate the pictures as it gives one a chance to appreciate them.
toxx

... one great engine there, congrats!  PM me if you can use the little Wilesco ladder, mate.
steamgranny

Lovely engine & a fantastic bonus box
Even the matches may be collectors by now
James

Looks great mate!!
