may I ask why you ask about the Janet, seeing as you have a Jane already, and they are very similar.

jane has been a very useful engine to me and the janet seems a little more advanced so I am interested
Iv seen people on here with loads of mamod locos because they simply like that particular loco

janet is just Jane with a pressure gauge as an option!
its also a little bit heavier and has thicker frames, as far as the differences go thats pretty much it.
Edrig got my vote, Isabel is the ugliest loco on the market for me!
Of course if money was no object then I'd say go and buy yourself a Roundhouse Billy! I really want one of those.

no matter at all, I'm just saying, its pretty much what you've got.

If you can afford it, Accucraft Edrig all the way. Proper reversable piston valvegear, ie not slip eccentric, good performer, lots of aftermarket stuff for them too if you want to personalise it.

Indeed. Shame you can't get coal firing for them anymore.

Save a bit more and get a Roundhouse 'Bertie'
Either that or the Edrig, something about the Locobox brand just says 'more trouble than they're worth' for some reason. I could be wrong, but I also think that all of their loco's look a bit 'cheap' compared to the other manufacturers.
And if you already have a Jane, you should only really have a Janet if you want a sister engine for her. Nothing wrong with a fleet of similar locos as long as you're sure that you won't be drooling over another make or model within a week of purchase!

I can imagine it was cheaper than 1 of roundhouses coal burners though

roundhouse don't actually make coal fired locos, they provide the chassis and bodies to Shawe steam services (or whatever its called) and he puts a coal fired boiler in.
