Which wood trailer : Mamod or Wilesco ?Hi,
Is it possible to adjust the footing of Mamod/Wilesco log trailers ?
I plan to play with children to fetch some wood for my stove and my real buches are longer than the lengthes accepted by these trailers.
Who 'd have these trailers to compare them ?
Thanks !

Raide, I am not familiar with Wilesco log trailers...but the wheelbase (distance between front and rear axle) on a Mamod log trailer could be made any length using a longer piece of tubing. The tubing is held in with grub (set) screws, so it can be removed and a longer one of same diameter could be put in place. You could NOT make the axle spacing between wheels larger however since it is made differently.

If the load gets too great you may lack the horsepower

I agree with Cranko...try to avoid creating excessive loads on a trailer...these engines are toys and NOT intended for heavy pulling.
I have seen videos of Old Smoky's pulling a number of cars with weights, but it was on a flat, smooth concrete surface that would offer the least resistance. If too much weight is loaded, engine will either stall OR the large drive gears will strip out.

Thank you for your advices, I think I'll take a Mamod.
What's the average price for a second-hand Ow1/Lw1 ?
Are four vertical points screwed on Lw1 ?

Raide,
Best estimate of selling prices for an OW1 or LW1 would be to look at completed Mamod auctions in the UK for those models. I would think either would fall in the range of 50 USD or less each (25 GBP?)

The upright posts on my Mamod log wagon just drop in with no fixings.
Prices usually £20 - 25 but with E-Bay anything is possible so £5 - 50!!
