Well I will have to steam both 25s and then one, that makes 51 right?
redryder

that adds up

that does add up to 51.
OR
you could steam 1 #25 two times then one other one.

Gil
johnreid

I will watch your YouTube, and Rogers too! that will make it more than 102!

Yours is an extra special nice one Gil.
In fact I will enjoy running my Cast based 25 and my 25g too then maybe a Mamod just for the fun of it.
Mister Occlusion

I can't make plans that far ahead... In my world it's folly to plan more than a day in advance and sheer fantasy to plan for next week...

Quite often the afternoons don't go as planned in the morning either..
Manxman

To be honest, nothing. I think toy steam will take a back seat (a long way back) in our house on the 25th.   I guess I think, if possible, it's a time for family.

All my boys (5) will be home for Christmas dinner (some with girlfriends). I always do the meal and I think I'm planning for 10 sitting down. Good food, bit of crap telly, to much to drink and all the kids around. Bliss. And then back to toy steam on Boxing Day. Perfect.
Stilldrillin

There will be NO engine steaming at our house on Christmas day.

Our son & daughter in law are working at the local hospital, so other staff can spend  the day with their families.
We`re really proud of them for doing that.

So, after almost 40yrs. Christine and me are spending our first Christmas alone, together.

We`re REALLY looking forward to it.
Wallace

No steam over here. Just family time and the beach
Johnny E

Might have half an hour of intense steam at the point when the arguments start.

A Wilesco D9, MSS loco and TE1a all in steam together should make for some interesting sights/sounds/smells during the rows.

Just sit back and enjoy the steam.....
Atticman

Have got an MM2 for one son and a Bowman M180 for another, so have a perfect excuse for an evening steam up on the (glass) kitchen table
bessytractor

my SP2 hasn't turned its flywheel in anger for a while, might give it a go with the WS1.

What an exceptional group, MTA.
Nothing like that in my area, or even in this country,
I don't suppose.   Kudos to you and the crew hard-working there.

Having thought about it I must devise a way to run my parents engine on air for them on Christmas day!

I'm with Manxman on this one.  Time for family and eating too much.  A roaring fire (in the hearth not a grate ) but might be able to see my daughter's new SP1 running with her (sshh) Mamod Hammer that Santa will be dropping down the chimney

I think about all I will be steaming is a turkey...but I do love turkey, so when everyone is sacked out for an afternoon nap, I might sneak down to the basement and steam up a Bowman 101...been months since I have run it...must keep it in good fiddle!!!
Griffin

I will be spending time with my Kids, so no steam ups on Christmas day.

However I have to steam the Jensen #10 soon, as I have still not got round to that one yet. (Sorry Rog, but as requested, I will not let this one become a shelf queen, promise )
maverick

Might give the Burrell a quick spin, that's if the wife turns her back for long enough!!!
TRAPPERKEEPER

The Jensen 75, D16 (if it works) and SW1 ( which will need to borrow a couple parts from my good one to run)     Should be fun!
toxx

... me, I'll be steaming up me wee D455. Got me a nice new meths burner for her, which works like charm. Ah! Tat me old blue Irish eyes may see this! What a treat!
steamgranny

Probably the only thing I will be steaming is the Christmas pudding    Someone's got to do the cooking
Might find room to squeeze little Stirling onto end of table, as only needs a cup of hot water or possibly a late-night steam up to celebrate when everyone is abed, if I can still see straight & not pour wine into the boiler or Brandy in the burner

That would still be a lot better than brandy in the boiler and wine in the burner !

As I said before, The #51 will steam on Christmas day.

I may also steam up a forgotten  35 as I have not yet done that and I have one that may not have seen steam since the 1930's.

I "steamed" my flame-licker (vacuum-engine) together with a water wheel (old Doll steam toy)

johnreid

I just steamed my SE2, video will be posted once YouTube decides it isnt copyrighted etc, that is the only disadvantage to YouTube, you have to wait 5 minutes or so to view one you upload. Will post in the Video section.
I plan on Steaming others today too. The day is still young.

Jensen "Forgotten 35"

Here is the nickel plated single action Jensen Forgotten #35 running possibly for the first time
since the 1930's. Huge grin over here. It was a great estate find that I picked off of ebay a couple
years back.

Merry Christmas to all !!!!

That one looks like it came right out of the box, it looks and runs like it was brand new. Real nice one that you have there.

Jensen 51

I do have the Jensen #51 running on Christmas day !!
Here is a short video (not my best and a little different) of the water
inside of the boiler under 15 psi with engine running.

You can plainly see the heater rods in that video, Gil, were all three rods in use at the same time on that footage?

Yes all 3 were on at the time. It was running but still warming up. A few minutes after this shoot
I shut down the center heater and throttled it back a little.

Quite an interesting view, thanks again for sharing.

Hello,

I started it,  so I guess that I should be somewhere at the finish. Apart from steaming the pudding, I had very little time but got out a small engine that I have not run for a while. I bought this from  chap at STIA, some years ago.

It is very small, smaller than a coffee mug the cylinder is tiny. It uses 5ml water on a steaming, runs great for about 4 mins. I have never loaded pictures so I will try now.

Best Regards & Happy Xmas

We steamed up the SL1k but it still needs some running in
Minor1PJG

Nothing yesterday, but two runs with my daughter of her SP1 with its new Christmas hammer
johnreid

I had a fun day after Christmas, started the day with an exploding SE2, fixed it, steamed it Steamed my SE1A steamed my Jensen 70 ( a most fun engine, runs like there is no tomorrow ) and finished by steaming the SE2 again. The house has just a bit of the smell of Meths but that doesnt bother me in the least bit.
Dave B

I finally got a chance to run the "Sat Upon" SE3 yesterday evening after what turned out to be a (more than usual) hectic Christmas...

My brother went to pick up our Dad to come to my house for Christmas. Dad had fallen and hurt his hip and arm. After two days of x-rays, skin tear repair, waiting for medical opinions, more tests, no christmas dinner, drugs, more x-rays, more waiting in hospital emerg wards, no boxing day sales, finally the opinion of the medical profession is "no broken hip or pelvis, just deep soft tissue damage. Rest, painkillers, and as little weight bearing as possible for the next 4 days, then reassesment.

I finally got home last night (Boxing Day) to a house full of visiting relatives, including a 4 year old nephew who was just enthralled with my steam engines. Right after Christmas dinner (heated up in the microwave on Boxing day...) I ran the SE3 just for Tyler - it was a big hit!!!

I'm happy to be home, happy that Dad is on the road to recovery.

Merry Christmas to all!
johnreid

Dang Dave, that sounds like a hectic holiday. Glad to hear that he had no broken bones and in fact I know quite a few people who would think that it would be fine to have four days of Rest, painkillers, and as little weight bearing as possible. I hope he heals quickly.
So glad to also hear that the sat upon SE3 runs great and maybe your nephew will be a steam convert, we need the young ones to get enthused for the hobby to continue to grow.

Hi Guys,

Hope this works, my first attempt at sending pictures!!

I started the thread so I should finish it, this is what I steamed on xmas day. Cute, less than the size of a Tea mug.

Thanks

johnreid

Looks like a real fun one, I like the small ones.
H2o vapour

Hi John ,

Yes, Brilliant this one, uses 5-6 ml of water and about the same Meths, goes for about 5 mins on a fill. lives in a little wooden box in the draw at the side of my bed.

Get it out , steam and put it away in about 20 mins -

real fun!!
