Personally I don't see the reason to get so upset over this, after all it's his (sooty)engine. As long as he don't run it without water and have a, correctly designed, safety valve in place, ie don't risk injury to himself and others (plus maybe have an fire extinguisher at hand  .)
Also I think we are "fooled" somewhat by the video, on my films the "fires" usually seems much bigger than it is(and I don't use wood  )
AFAIK this is also not a 100 year old antiquity...that would be an other matter IMHO. Don't want to offend anybody, or recommend similar behavior but wasn't there a time when all steam engines were dirty and full of sot after they had been fired with wood? Just my cents. C. |
