Wierd SE3 box, new engine, and loads of Forum kindness!

Well, me and Mooseman did a trade of gifts! I'm sure he'll post up what he got, and here's what I got

First off, is this wierd SE3 box. It's wierd because 1) It's in mint condition   2) it has a really queer bit of paper on the top that I've not seen on another Mamod box. 3) The pic of an SE3 has a wierd regulator, wierd whistle, curved firebox door and wierd burner!

HEre we go!

Secondly, he secretly enclosed this wonderful little engine. I'm told it's made from Lucas Dynamo parts!

I shall run it today on air

The cylinder has a really big bore!! The last pic shows it next to an SE4 cylinder.

So a huge thanks again to Mooseman
Sandman

Now that is interesting Jimbo.

Be sure to video it running.

Have to agree about the Moose.

Mention the word kindness and he immediately comes to mind.

I couldn't tell you the times he's come to my assistance.
James

Well when I opened the box I thought "I know who got the better deal here"
MooseMan

There was no deal mate - I was totally surprised by what you sent me, and I'm chuffed to bits!

BTW, I think the box came from a school, hence the safety notice.
James

That could explain it! But I thought they had G&G ones?

No worries about what I sent you, my pleasure!
Les Marsh

That is definitely a 'one of a kind' engine.
Nick

Maybe one day you'll find the matching engine for the box..
Roundy

i thort that that was the rules 4 useing steam engines in schools- they tend 2 b rle anal about health and safety- wouldnt let me opperate mamod without safety goggles on and they made me do a risk assesment first- i said sod it and didnt do it again after that lol
Mamodman123

The picture on the SE3 boxes were all like that jimbo. Looks like someone has put the notice on   Still a great gift and in good condition, not faded etc

G+G boxes had stickers on the sides
James

O aye lad! Still nice
johnreid

Moose and James both are generous people, I think they both deserve special things fro m time to time.

James, that engine is so nice, I see all kinds of potential with that one.
James

Aye John, but I haven't decided what to make it into yet
bessytractor

I love that little engine, looks like one I'd make!

My 5" loco has two Lucas dynamos in it
Steve_S

It could be a spinning wheel engine.....?
James

Aye!
pauly

James and Odilon, it's great to have friends we can swap things with.  Even though we occassionally have spats,  the warmth and friendship within this forum is very evident and great to be a part of. As MM says, the SE3 boxes are standard Mamod ones (I checked all 7 of mine to make sure,     ), but it's interesting to see that Mamod originally planned a straight handled whistle and regualtor instead of the curved ones we got - great of you to notice it James, I hadn't done so before.

I love the little home buld engine, is Lucas the same company that makes all the car electrical parts?

Cheers

chris
Wallace

I love the engine

James

Thanks!!

I think so Chris, they made magnetos and stuff for tractors!
