Wilesco D 22 Better than a drip trayIt's very likely that someone else has come up with this idea in the past, but I thought it might be worth a post
I was not impressed with the drip tray on my D 22. It's only good for about 10 mins steaming and cost £4.25 too so I came up with this idea.
I used a brasso tin and two lids, an off cut of 20mm copper tube and a small length of 8ml tube, cost- almost free.
It's my first attempt at making something, so do not look too close !!
This photo show the condenser steaming away
It was quite easy to make and possibly it would work just as well without cutting out the copper tube, and just leaving it short
It was just a case of cutting a 22mm hole in the lid and soldering the tube in place. And then the piece of 8 ml tube for the inlet.
I put on another lid on the base for effect, but I do not think it makes any difference to the finished job
I painted it using heat proof paint
I had been running a tube into the sink.but now I can put the engine where I want to, and still keep the place clean. Brownie points from the Boss !!

Very interesting solution, there are more members who creates chuffpot's by them self,
But I really like this one

Very complementary to the engine. That engine is really a looker.

A chuff pot is essential for the bigger Wilescos. The trays are annoying in more than one way

Blends in well with the engine.Since I always run my engines in the garden, I just rubber pipe the exhaust to the ground.

looks fine to me but im going to be critical, I would repaint it gloss black to go with the boiler etc as it is its very industrial looking which is just fine but such a fine engine needs more shine to the chuffer in my opinion.....last word...looks great and good use of existing materials

Neat. I took a slightly different approach with my d20 electric mod. The drip tray outlet feeds steam to a rigid tube which fits via a cork to an outer plastic tube which acts as the reservoir and the chimney fits over the whole thing. With a bit of luck you can see the chimney "smoking" -- the lighter patches on the left against the wall.
