Badly overcast today so had to resort to flash and that has distorted colour and shade. I'm not sure if what I intend to show, the plain appearance, is that apparent at all but please tell me so if not and I'll revisit this post.

If you wonder about composition, I have attempted to get the colour of the firebox, same as later versions, into the same shot as the chimney for comparison.

The metal of the chimney feels thinner than any later version and I have owned every gray base D5 up to the last -67 model.
Unfortunately as seen from the pictures, the true differences in perception of handling and look are mostly lost and it should be handled and inspected first hand for that.
