after 4 hrs of trying with this computer to get audio from this vid i give up. could someone take pity on liz and myself  and record a sound file from this vid or related vid so we can hear the sound please. i think reid has heard the music from this organ as he has made a comment.your help in this matter would be gratefully appreciated with many thanks. my email address is g.bannon@westnet.com.au  many thanks liz and glenn

... I can hear it nicely. It plays 'O Suzannah'. Can you hear other youtube audios okay, or is it only with this one?
xlchainsaw

i cant hear any you tube or photo bucket audio. i believe its to do with my firewall as ive downloaded the latest flash ect. allowed you tube i think? im not very good with these matters. all of my audio is fine,mp3,wave ect. it all okay but for this application. could be why i cant upload vids???
toxx

... could be your firewall is being over-protective.
xlchainsaw

i thik you are right about the b.... firewall . ive tried to adjust it but havent had any success to date.

I've been experiencing some very slow loading video files from YouTube recently, with at least one just freezing and failing to load on my computer (576K broadband).

However hopefully you have received my e-mail Glenn with the audio track as requested.
johnreid

I will download the Video and see if I can find a way to convert it to another format, no promises.

Do you have Real Player installed? as that is what I am downloading it with.
It plays O Susannah similar to a music box
xlchainsaw

many thanks chris im downloading now

... gosh, that thing really is sweet. After 'O Suzannah', it tinkles 'Eine kleine Nachtmusik' by Mozart. I can't identify the 3rd tune. Does anybody know it? I'm gonna get one of these gadgets ...
johnreid

I have it in AVI format now, if you still need it let me know, or I will delete it in a day or two. 7 Mb long file
I could email it, but if you already have it, why waste the bandwidth.
xlchainsaw

thanks john. you wouldnt beleive it   99% downloaded by dialup then.... timeout internet explorer cannot save file!! : so im back on and downloading. liz cant wait to hear it.  and its 1am monday morning here.

liz is really keen to get one but for the money i would like to hear one play first. i had a hearing test a couple of days ago   not good ! so i guess i cant trust my hearing as a true record of sound.
johnreid

If you want I can email it, AVI format

thanks john

its hard to imagine such a tune coming coming from this.

so it a box with a reader on top. if i could source out one these "readerers" then a ornamental box wouldnt pose to much of a problem. maybe alot cheaper as liz has set her mind to having one
xlchainsaw

thanks john im downloading now i hope i dont timeout
xlchainsaw

what a saga! i have found this.

it measures 3" by 1" and has very good reveiws

with these being so cheap compared with a wilesco model this is a answer to a prayer. for those here that are interested in this thread i think this is the cheaper alternative. build your own mechanical organ house. this is au dollars. a wilesco organ house would cost me $ 300 delivered. these machines maybe $30 to $40 dollars. all that is needed is a ornamental box (fun to make) and a pulley adaption. i have ONE problem   we placed a order with amazons and THEY dont ship to australia due to warranty restrictions. as yet i havent found a local supplier. can an american member help out for a small profit??? maybe supply the forum???i really think this is the answer for a steam driven mechanical musical model.
johnreid

I would gladly help, but I need to have no expense on my end, no funds here to float it.
it is $15.00 + $6.50 shipping to get it here, then whatever shipping is to Australia. If really interested, PM me for PayPal info.

Some of the Amazon resellers might mail to AU

Is this perhaps one?

johnreid

It doesnt hurt to ask, it is far simpler to deal direct, and less expensive too.
xlchainsaw

thanks reid we did try that but then the order details started to get  very unclear so we decided to turn to the forum for help. ill pm you john and thanks very much for your offer. for start we want two. we arent greedy but when you consider all the extra effort its best to have a spare for now.

If you can view the video but not get any sound it's got nothing to do with your internet firewall.   The sound data is transmitted interleaved with the video data (all in the same file)  so you automatically receive the sound data along with the video.   It must be a sound card / flash player configuration problem.

Try playing some 'flash' driven games e.g.  http://www.retroarcade.org/index.php and see if you get any sound from them.   If not then right click the game / video and see if you can change any settings.

I assume you get sound okay from normal windows applications / games?

many thanks to john for his help in obtaining the featured music set. liz and i now have two of these machines and liz is over the moon with joy. we now have to learn to make "music strips" liz is designing the front of the box as we speak and soon its hoped to have a steam driven mechanical music house up and running. once again thankyou to all who have helped us work though this project. as soon as the project is completed photos and hopefully vid is guarenteed . liz and glenn
