Wilescos can you fix them? There is a Wilesco that is still cheap on ebay OZ that needs some work.
The steam pipe has been removed from the boiler which would possibly need soldering to fix it.
Has anyone ever tried soldering on a Wilesco boiler?
If this stays cheap I may buy it to have a go at a Wilesco as I dont mind the look at this one as long as its repaireable without buying a new boiler.

I don't think you can solder to the plating Tmuir, you'll have to get it back to brass or it won't solder! Thats why I can't understand why they plated them

I think thats doable, whistles are easy to obtain, the o'governor' is just for show really. If the parts are clean well they should bond.

I'll keep an eye on it and place a low bid, if I get it good, if not its ok too.

I've soldered to plated stuff, no bother. Just make sure it's very clean and give the join the once over with a bit of wet 'n' dry, just to give it a key, and use a good flux.

Nah, no need to take it back that far....the solder will be drawn into the join anyway, and that won't be plated.

So you sent it off to Wilesco, they "fixed it" and it broke again?

I think Erik did it when his Wilesco blew a pipe running on meths... so it must be do-able!
I'd rather solder it to brass though, maybe just take a small circle of plating off around the hole just for that exra peace of mind
