Yet Another Traction Engine.

I've moved these pics from another part of the forum to show you how the TE looked when I got it.

I've now done the first job of making a new back plate. Seems fine and an ok fit. I'm not very good at these things but it seems to work. I've also given the brass a bit of a polish and given the whole thing a coating of black paint. This now seems about right to build upon.

MTA

What do you mean not very good
Mamodman123

Looking very nice Manxman!

I like the brass boiler aswell! Glad you got rid of the green colour . Keep us updated Manxman
Dauntless

looking good Manx

Manxman

Thanks for the comments. Going well and I've found a piston that is a good fit in my 'spares box'. I've also got the flywheel. Biggest problem is going to be wheels. At the moment it is either 3 original wheels, 4 standard Wells, 4 standard Mamod, or MTA maybe able to get me something a little different.

Manx,
My teacher was not having the best of days, he was called out during our lesson apparently as his wife was rushed into hospital Apparently they were expecting, so I hope it's good news! I'll chase it up at a later date when things are calmer at school!!!
Manxman

No problems MTA. I think I may go for the 3 wheels for now and see what happens.
MTA

ok, keep us informed

Joys of a 'spare parts' box. I seem to keep lots of things, just in case. The piston seem to be a good fit (I'll test at the weekend) and moves fairly freely.
Wallace

Great stuff
yosa

Looking the part now Manx.

What colour are you doing the wheels?
Manxman

Here's the finished engine ready to fire at the weekend.
In the end I've gone for a couple of 'standard' Wells wheels on the front. I think they look alright and they should look ok until (if ever) I can find another wheel to match the original set.
Not a bad engine for £13.00

Dauntless

MTA

yosa

SPOKESMAN

An excellent result!
Manxman

Thanks for the comments. I quite like it but I think it will end up as, just part of the collection.

My next purchase is going to be another old engine and I think that will be rather special.
Mamodman123

Wow what a transformation Manxman! Very well done
Griffin

A job well done, nice one Manxman
Steve_S
