Yussufhippo's Dolls videos addedHello friends,
last year I presented my collection of two-cylinder engines. In a poll I asked if you would like to see either my Märklin or my "other makers" collection (2 cyl. excluded). You voted for other makers, but due to health reasons I was not able to oblige.
So this year I have decided to (partly) fulfil my promise. Here is my Doll collection. Some of these engines are "veterans" and have appeared on the forum before. So I have focused the "newbies" in my photos:
First a view of the complete table:

And here one of the first steam engines I bought (more than 20 years ago), a Doll 364/1 (version of 1937 as flywheel 10 cm?; but hight 35cm = 1927-1929?). Complete with feeder pump, 3-flame-vaporizer etc... A small, but very finely built engine. Must run her soon.

Small is beautiful: Doll 309/0 oscillating cylinder overtype, 1927 here with round base corners and without vents. The dredge is probably Falk but the two have been together for ages (bought them as a team).

Small but even more beautiful:
Doll 502/1 portable, the smallest version with 4,8 cm boiler. Runs like hell.

An engine that I really like, one of the last Dolls as Dolls: a 1937 404/5. Complete with burner, generator, lamp, feeder pump with extra flywheels, pressure gauge, oilers, whistle etc etc. After the war sold as Fleischmann 135/2 (different vents, gallery etc). You can still identify some traces of the Doll hallmark in gold on black (indicating that this was still sold as Doll but the company had been "taken over" by Fleischmann) on the generator. The paint losses on the base seem to be a typical feature of these late Dolls. The lamp is still working...

And a close up of the engine proper:

I bought it together with two saws (mind the black/gold hallmark again) some years ago in Berlin. This set had been with the same family in Berlin since the late 1930s. Later that day the seller, a nice and interesting civil engineer with the unlikely name of "Panzer"(who had been involved in building Norman Foster's Reichstag and then opened his own shop in Pestalozzistr., selling and repairing steam models by Stuart, Holzapfel etc and bicycles) phoned me on my mobile because he had just found a box containing some stuff belonging to this Doll engine: a water container with nozzle close to the base + its original 1930s rubber hose for the feeder pump, a lighter with hook for the burner door, a measuring cup and springs... He gave it to me free of charge. Bless him!

And a close up:

Here my Doll 364/1 in action, first run in at least ten years. Operating feeder pump etc. OOPs, yes, there is some steam oil on the camera objective...:

Great to see the old Dolls running.
I often wonder when I see this big engines who was the first owner of it? Was it some lucky kid getting them for christmas or were they a toy merely for the father in the house?
