thanks from what I have heard on here they are not to popular and I can see why very poor build quaility in comparison to the earlier 1s  _________________ knowledge is power

yeah but the control knob is right on top of the boiler I can imagine it gets quite hot and its made out of plastic all in all it looks a bit cheap to me but its all about personal opinion  _________________ knowledge is power

nah i have one and it aint bad
the plastic knob dosent get hot its only the metal which does _________________ The SP Range guy

what about the plastic valve gear I have heard it falls apart after a couple of runs and it still seems a bit of a daft place to put the control knob _________________ knowledge is power

i have run mine loads of times and its fine not had a problem with it yet
some of the guys on here have seen it run as well at meets
The valve gear isnt plastic its metal painted black  _________________ The SP Range guy

Mine got hot enough to come off the threaded valve assembly. Had to glue it back on. This was a problem with the early Mamod Williams as well, later ones have a brass knob which uses an 'O' ring around the outside which comes off instead! _________________ Chris Cairns.
