I think it is a factor with too many air holes on the firebox side plates. I use 2 tablets in the SP5 burner, and it can end up as a towering inferno.
And looking at pauly's photos in this posting of his SP5 he suffers the same problems - look closely at his boiler for the evidence. _________________ Chris Cairns.

i use three tablets in the bigger burners
leave a hell of alot of soot and those new crome sides tarnish really badly and really fast _________________ The SP Range guy

the most tablets I have used in mine was 5 because I had attached a whistle to it and it couldnt make enough steam
sometimes I made to much steam and the whistle didnt work
it does not have a whistle any more _________________ knowledge is power

you know what I mean James it just doesnt look as good as the original mamods and I heard that the couplers are not compatable with older mamod stock.
Im sure theres a thread on here about it somewhere. _________________ knowledge is power

Not to knock the William, but the older Mamod loco's are brilliant runners once you tweak them a bit _________________ Solid Fuel tablets explode
