My newest purchase:

I have to admit, I know nothing about this engine, but I really like it.

It will be shipped out some time in the next  few days, so it will be a little while before I get it.

Never had one but I like 'em alot. Red painted steam pipe is neat, nice that

That's a really nice engine Nick.

I've bid on a few of these but got beat at the last minute.

By what I can gather, they are excellent runners but have limited power.

Look forward to the pics when you get it

I have one of these delightful & very well built engines, although you may be surprised at how small it actually is on arrival

However, with no form of steam control it's an all or nothing runner & always expected it to either take off or disintegrate at full speed  I therefore did some experimenting with a crude burner cover & below video shows positive results obtained. I shall make a more elegant version soon.
I've never tried powering anything but suspect it is capable of running a small accessory.
I think you'll be happy with your purchase, that looks very complete & in good condition

..............And in case you scratch your head as to whereabouts of SV - it's inside the chimney, that unscrews & also acts as filler hole

It seems to me that the smaller the engine the all out faster they run.

I guess they flywheel weighs less so the steam can move it faster.

I was wondering if the shorter throw of the piston rod might also contribute, plus the smaller displacement of the small diameter pistons require less steam to move them?

That might be a good thing to know.

I will probably make up some way of controlling the flame, because I like to run my engines at the slowest speed possible.

How do you keep the cylinder oiled?

Do you just oil it up good before the run and then the steam/oil mix keeps it well lubricated during the run?

Thanks for the help.

(If anyone else has this engine, please post your pictures here.)

Now you've got me curious...how small are they? Like a Minor 1?
Granny? Nick?
