Nick,
You certainly gave that one a new lease on life. Your bushing repairs were flawless and that isn't easy to do. Great job!!! _________________ Visit IndianaRog and The Temple of Steam: www.indianarog.com |

Thanks!
It's raining today, so the outdoor pictures will have to wait.
Does anyone know the age of this engine? I think it's from the '50's. |

Bowman of Luton Steam engines were manufactured from late 1945 through 1949 when the went out of business. _________________ Your life is an occasion...Rise to it |

I dont know, but assume so, I also know that some had a metal medallion as opposed to a decal. Maybe one of the Bowman experts can chime in now. _________________ Your life is an occasion...Rise to it |

Im not sure if anyone is any wiser about the metal " decal"
But its probably from the early ones, as cost pressures set in.
There is a Bowman book due out, though its been a while coming, and i am not sure if it will include the Luton Bowmans .
Interesting period post war, speaking to me Dad, quite a lot of things were rationed to the early 50s, and there wasnt much money around- deaths in the war, debts from the war, sudden increase in the birth rate, world markets not up and running etc.
I gather that some houses were cheaper to pull down than keep going , so its maybe not surprising that Luton Bowmans didnt last long. |

The top photo shows more detail on the firebox, however the letters that were stamped dont show. It is hard to get good photos of shiny things, I think the best is usually done nearer to sunset. Open shade is the key. _________________ Your life is an occasion...Rise to it |

That really came together well Nick. I prefer the 2nd photo, bit more detail seems to be visible with the different shadowing. I love those square burners...very classy! _________________ Visit IndianaRog and The Temple of Steam: www.indianarog.com |
