Was on the fence about a Japanese tin toy but once I got it I fell in love with it
Unit is thin guage and typical of what we got from Japan in the 60's but a lot of play value.
Axle moves a bulb (battery at left compartment of unit) back and forth in red tower for flickering effect.
Goal is to collect different styles and types of steam engines and happy to add this one. _________________ While you're resting |

That is very cool. That tower looks like a really small distrbutor cap.
The base looks just like a wilesco! _________________ Keep Creativity Alive! |

I don't have any Japanese engines because they're always high priced or more often in very poor condition, but I do have some Japanese accessories. |

I have seen those before, but never in that condition. I hate to say this, but if it was mine, that one would be a shelf queen.
The materials dont seem to stand up to a lot of use, however it is an interesting item and the post war Japanese design is interesting as I see several parts that look exactly like Wilesco or Fleischmann parts.
I have a Marx Grindstone Figure that is almost a direct knock off of a Fleischmann figure, reverse engineering in its infancy, Japanese products sure have changed since those days,
That one is a museum piece,
The Japanese people were very clever at that time too, I had a friend who was one of the first occupying troops in Japan and he had tin toys that people fashioned from C ration cans. Really amazing stuff. _________________ Your life is an occasion...Rise to it |

| I have to agree with John, that is the nicest one I have seen and it should probably be kept that way. |

I had a Linemar vertical boiler once until it rusted away. _________________ Les - Old age isn't so bad when you consider the alternatives.
