No James is genuinely interested.
If he came across a time machine I think he would go back to WWI just to ask the front line what it was like fighting in the trenches.

My original family name is VonKronmuller (not totally sure that is the exact spelling).

I was at Gettysburg last year, and found that one of my ancestors is on one of the memorials!!    J. Hobart Ward.  I have his dress sword hanging on my mantle right behind me.

I knew that he (his first name was Judson), and a younger member, Franklin Pierce Mapes, fought in the Civil War.  For the north of course, I come from a long line of new england yankees. My family has a really rich history, and have fought in all the major wars.  Lost a few cousins in vietnam as well.
The unfortunate part is, that I have no contact with most of the family, cause I don't like them much!!!
I want to move south,  Carolinas most likely.  I do not like the cold.

My dads family is Irish and German. Infact, the Irish side came to America due to the potato famine. I think German came because of WWII. I'm 50% German, 25% Irish and 25% Czech. My moms family is all Czech and German.

I am a big time WWII history buff.  Turn of the century industrial revolution is as well.  I am always especially interested in the technilogical history.  I have many item because of what they are.  My favorite is my Phonograph,  That has a BIG history tied to WWII (it has been in the family since it was new)
James, I would very happy to tell you all the stories my Dad, and grandmother told me about the war.
But it might get a bit long winded for here...  but.. you are the owner of this forum.. so no prob.  as I have time, I will be glad to relay all I know.  I also have many books about WWII.  Unfortunatly, I had to sell my most prized one    so I could make the mortgage one month.

This is why steam is of such interest to me, as it is from the era of human history that is of SO much interest to me!!  I would be really happy to live some where in europe, just because of the very rich history there!!  Did I mention that I lived in Israel for 5 years as a kid?  Talk about history!!!!

WWI was sure a topic of interest for me, I even built a replica Nieuport 11 Airplane 7/8 scale but lost my medical so couldnt fly it.  Fortunately I sold everything for a small profit.
I think that saved me a LOT of money.

Bloody hell!

You're an interesting bloke, yer know that?

As you probably know, I used to really really be into WWII, WWI and old war planes, BUT sheep and steam have kind of taken over. The passion's still there though and never will go away!

At the mo, I'm looking at taking the only shepherding course in Britain that teaches you how to train sheep dogs, how to tend lowland and hill sheep. Anything old fashioned I love. I listen to music from Lincolnshire, written like 100 years ago.

Aye I'm a bit queer

WOW John

you got any pics?

WWI always seems to get pushed aside for WWII, which I don't think is right.

The 1st tank was designed and made in Lincolnshire, and was built at Foster's of Lincoln who built the steam engines. Marshalls of Gainsborough made God knows how many different guns, midget submarines, and all that, Roses made the rear gun turret for the Lancaster.

Lincolnshire has the highest number of RAF bases than anywhere else in Britain.

At a field where we cut grass, there's a bloody massive hole in the middle.

I asked why, she didn't know.

Well I researched, and I'm 98% sure that it's the crash site of a Bristol Blenheim

No.... you are not.  I have a whole collection of Big Band music on 78 rpm records, and I play them on my Colombia Gramafonia.  My daughter thinks I am nuts, I know I am nuts, but my wife likes it. My Dad LOVED bagpipes.  We had a piper play "oh danny boy" on the front walk of the house for his wake, and all the neighbors came out to listen, many were crying. Most touching thing I have ever seen. My Dad loved that stuff. Music of that era has more soul than anything made today.

So GOOD FOR YOU!!!

You are unique!  Too many "normies" in the world.  Keep that individuality.  If I even get the chance to go to britain again, you will be the first person I look up!

And that is exactly what I collect!!!  You would love some of the stories my Dad told me.  My Gramafonia is 1928, my grandparents bought it new.
Lincolnshire ale?  MMMMMMMMMM....
American beer and ale is not wonderful.  Too bitter.
I have extra 78s, I would gladly send you some of them.  They have little value on the open market, and I would rather give them to someone who would like them for what they are.  You have to have a real phonograph to play them, they sound awful on an electric machine.  Arm is too light.

I lost my pictures of mine, there are pictures of identical planes on the Internet though, just do a search for the Nieuport 11
Hey, you only live once so at least try to do many things and enjoy your short time here.
I weigh too much and my health is poor, so the flying is only a memory, in fact I personally never got to fly mine.
However next week I have a ticket that was given to me for a ride in a Ford TriMotor, that will be a fun flight.
