Little bit of a leak around the rocker cover on my car, ordered a new gasket at it arrived today

Rocker cover removed, this is the most ive ever taken an engine apart before You can see right down the carb there too

These are the valves and tappets (noisey Ford things)????? above?

The old cork gasket was badly flattened and cracked, it fell apart as I took it off so its a good job the new one fits

Next on the list a road legal tire

This kind of gave the a thirst to take the engine apart more...maybe i'll buy one I can dismantle

OK.  I can see it is a pushrod engine, small displacement 4 cyl.  Looks like Front wheel drive. With a carburator.  So... tell me?  Please?

What kind of car/engine is this?
The underhood shots of my oldsmobile would scare you!!!
LOTS of vacum tubes for the emissions.
In this country, there are very few pushrod 4 bangers.  Only old ones.

Well diagnosed correct with all of them

It's not that old.... 1988

It's a Ford fiesta 950cc a living joke where you live!

Rog,

Yup my hands got very dirty, I can still smell the oil and and "engine smell" after washing about 3-4 times

The picture in my avitar is one of my actual car, the one before it was too old but as near as I could get. A quick visit to an official ford site put an end to that

Note the clean up round the spark plugs... look at it before

Wash your hands in Dishwashing liquid soap. It cuts grease better than about anything.

In this country 1988 Fiestas lasted till about 1991, after about 100000 miles the wheels fell off.

Ford fiesta, your right where we live its a joke

My dad has a 1993 vette with 250,000 miles on it. It still passes emmisions, it did better this year then last year. We got it from a guy who drove it 100 miles a day. It cost $4000    a 90% dcrease from original value.

I learned how to work on cars when I had a 1960 VW Beetle for my first Car. I have probably owned over a half dozen through the years. Easy to work on and very reliable.

Several that I owned were 36 HP models, not speed demons by any means. Just like we tease you about the Fiesta, I sure got teased about my ancient Bugs.

My dad had a bug, he drove it 200 miles on 8 gallons of gas. Pretty good gas mileage back then.

I want to steam power a VW bug. Mod the cam and put a monotube boiler in the front.  Seriously

you still see a few of them left these days.

They only stopped making them in 2003 in Mexico after about 21 million cars    . will never overheat either

But slower than mine....

Good old tool that Fiesta.  You have to watch the rust though, remembering that the front wings weld on, not bolt on like most cars.

Tappets on these Ford engines are pants though and they rattle like a tin box full of spanners almost from new.  They will run forever though even with virtually no oil in them!  The valve seals go and you leave a lovely blue smoke screen behind you
