Bought myself a new bookshelf today, the top 3 shelved will be for my engines with the bottom two for my books.
Thought it was a good time to take a photo of some of my collection.

This is not all my OZ engines, 5 are missing from this photo.
In the picture from left 2 right are 2 vertical Renowns, an Eric Jeanerette Vertical, Renown Steam Roller with Scorpion Horizontal in front of it and 3 Scorpion Verticals to the right.
What is missing from this photo is my Renown Windmill, Parken engine  and another Scorpion Horizontal, all still to be restored and my new Steamco STC-1 and my Kookaburra overtype.

Here is another shot without the Horizontal engine so you can get a better look at the roller.

That has to be one of the best collections of Australian Engines there is, and the shelf makes a great display.

Tony, good show !!!

It just dawned on me that at least based on your collection, verticals were more the norm in OZ than horizontals.  Is that a fair conclusion?  If so that is unique in the steam toy world where I believe horizontals dominate.

Yes, verticals were the norm (Although Scorpion made a horizontal too , so did DIKTA and Parken), certainly up until the early  60s when the industry collapsed. From the 70's on Horizontal engines started to dominate. I actually can't even think of an OZ vertical made after 1970.

Great models and yes I agree the Renown Roller is a dream. I still very much want one of those. Tony your collection just gets better and better. I love these themed collections. They show just how varied our hobby can be.

Thanks Manx.

If I see another roller I'll be sure to let you know but if my walllet is heavy that day I may still bid on it and then sell on the one I have.

That's an enviable collection! There's something about verticals that's very attractive.

Couldn't agree more.  A very fine collection.

Going to have to backtrack through your posts to educate myself on those Australian Engines.  As Manx was saying we all have our niches,  and your's is a very impressive one.

I am going to have to start seriously thinking about a display case. We've filled up the covered entry, taken over the Living Room Coffee table and two side tables, the top of my office credenza and one of the bookshelves. 33 pieces so far.

Maybe I should just build an extension.

When I think of Australian engines two stick in my mind. That red Renown one in the above picture (Horizontal) and this blue thing that I think Flywheel got? Apologies if I have mixed up the identity  . Not sure what make that particular engine is? But I'd say it was on here maybe a year ago, possibly more.

Great collection Tony, You won't see any collection like that on any steam forum anywhere, thats a fact
