Great stuff Steve. Thanks for taking the time and great pics...

...how do you keep chimneys(and boilers, too)secure in a vise without crunching them a bit, especially when they're soft from the torch?

Will we be seeing Steve_S brand engines on the market soon? We'd like them numbered and in wooden boxes with an attractive label, I should think.

That would be a challenge! For someone to re-make a Bowman or early mamod! It's possible with the know how! The early engines require very simple tooling!

Good idea, MM. How about a two-cylinder minor 2?

Funnily enough I was thinking about exactly that yesterday! With some parts from wrecked Minors it wouldn't be out of the question. Maybe one day....

Like the all crank disc MMs they lack power an inertia/torque.

It was, so I believe, pretty poor. That said Im still after one . . .

Here's the pic again . . .

If anyone is making one do two - one for me!

The boiler is a bit bigger than the MM1

What are the crank discs made of? Is it some sort of alloy? Maybe they just aren't heavy enough... not enough inertia. If thats the case, a replica could be made out of something heavier.

A more serious burner might give it some punch...maybe a vaporizing lamp from an MM2?

Aha! I was about to ask if we had a picture of the other side. Well...it's definitely worth thinking about isn't it? The two big jobs are the boiler.. need some suitable brass pipe, and the frame.. but that should be easy enough to cut out of brass sheet. Then it just needs a few bits and pieces from a couple of dead minors....

Exactly!

I have a MM1 from the same era, I believe the Firebox and base are exactly the same so I could measure up if anyone wants to have a go?
