OK. Now on to another of my favourite makes.

I have three Cyldons, two 13-3s and a 13-4.

I've only cleaned one up, the rest are as I got them.

Here are the pics first.

Once again, here are the vids.

I've posted the 13-4 before but I've added it as it goes with the rest.

So here we go.

My Cyldons.

Now how about something a wee bit different?

Two engines for you this time.

First, a little Mamod SP1 alongside a Stirling engine made for me by James Maiwald in Germany.

Toxx introduced me to James and I can recommend his workmanship to anyone.

Lovely collection, the Bowman is a Crackerjack!

I recently (2 days ago) picked up a Mamod roadster that looks exactly like yours! 6 spoked wheels, overflow plug, rectangular Mamod sticker, meths burner, and it looks like it has only been fired a few times!

When I fired it up last night, it leaked water from between the boiler and the dashboard, on the right (steering wheel) side. Is this something that you have noticed on yours, or do I have a leaking boiler? (I kind of suspect the leaking boiler theory...)

Thanks for any help you can offer!

Cheers

Aren't these boilers pop riveted in?
It could be leaking at the rivet

I wish I could help Dave, but I've never attempted to fire this one.

I know there are plenty of members who have, and I expect you'll get an answer soon.

I've got to leave the tables for a few hours, so I thought I'd leave you with something interesting.

One of my favourite makes is Mersey engines, and I have two I'd like to share with you.

They are a Mersey 52R and a 53GR. The R stands for reversing and the G stands for gearing.

So here they are on the table.

Mersey 52R and 53GR.

Tony's suggestion sounds likely. The boiler is attached to the dashboard by a couple of blind copper pop rivets. If one of those has split or eased off then it would leak.

There are two rivets below the steering wheel centered horizontaly on the dashboard, which appear to go through the dashboard and the boiler housing - do you mean that they actually go through the boiler endplate as well? Yikes.

If I turn the roadster upside down, I hear something rattling in the boiler (seems to be "par for the course" for engines I have received lately) - maybe the rivet sleeve which has parted from the centre pin?

Sorry if this is not the place for this thread... although I picture us having this conversation at Sandy's table at a "live" steam gathering...

Cheers

Sorry all, for plugging up Sandy's table with the previous roadster question, I've started a separate thread here

http://modelsteam.myfreeforum.org/ftopic13986-0-0-asc-.php

if there any other comments.

Cheers
