Hi to all, this is my first post

I recently pulled out my childhood SE2a and gave it a little run. Boy did that bring back the memories!

Further poking around revealed two lumps of loose solder rattling around in the boiler. A few minutes of upside down jiggling released both though an open fitting. Now I am considering a full off renovation of the engine. I have all of the skills needed from mechanics to machining and soldering, but I must admit that I am stumped

Could someone please tell me what the small fitting (ie hole) is inside the chimney I am not refering to the return steam lines, but the thing attached directly to the top of the boiler.

Thanks for your feedback.
Jeff

Hi and welcome to the forums mate

If the engine ran ok, then that hole you see is more than likely the rivet.

If the engine runs ok, then all that is needed to do it up is a nice clean, and depending on condition/personal preferences a repaint.

I tend not to repaint engines unless fully needed

Cheers and again, welcome
