Looking good, I just ordered that book last night for Christmas.

I bought myself a profile tipped cutting tool a little while ago on the suggestion of Bogstandard and I really like the finish it gives. I think flywheel has also since got one at is happy with it.

It's no good if you need right angle shoulders on the part you are turning but is great for everything else.

Flywheel I think has since bought one and is happy with it too.

I got mine from RDGTools.

Here is the website

http://www.rdgtools.co.uk/acatalog/INDEXABLE_LATHE_TOOLS.html

Whilst in the UK I actually hired a car and drove for the 1 1/2 hours to visit this shop and the staff there are very friendly and even gave me a few pounds discount as I bought quiet a bit from them.

Can't wait to get my copy of the book although I have several other projects I need to do before I can start on this loco.

Looking great Graham, you are going ahead in leaps and bounds,     .

Yes, I have one of those profile tools, for my small lathe and I'm very happy with it.  I think I bought one with an 8mm shank, but I think they are available, in 6, 8, 10 and 12mm shanks.  The best part is the replaceable tips, no sharpening mistake to worry about,

Cheers

Chris
