The boiler had been on my bench for months as part of a twin cylinder project
that was going nowhere. Then, I saw Lewis's SEL Minor and got inspired!

The engine actually displays better by itself, but I ruined this base I had it on.

Beautiful Chuck...it also reminded me of the Mersey approach to incorporating lineshafts on their bigger models.

Question, how did you affix the lineshaft within the brass uprights, they look suspended by reverse gravity!!! Epoxy?

Rog: I just soldered a collar into the crotch of each support, and drilled tiny
holes on top for an oiling ports. The collars and pulleys were cut on my neighbor's
lathe and the shaft came from an old typewriter, I think. The supports are
strips cut from brass sheet(a door kickplate, actually). Reminds me of McDonald's
Golden Arches!

MM: Yes, Mersey and a few other venerable Made in England engines, as well.
The block and fitting are inspired from a Luton Bowman. Tall chimney like a
Bowman. Firebox door from Bowman and Luton Bowman. Lineshaft ala Mersey
and Mamod. Undertype, as is the SEL Minor.

TBH cylinders ect im quite good with but its just where to get the material to make a boiler!

I was reading them the other day and the evolution of the " pig" is fantastic!

Thanks, Will. For 1 1/2" boiler like the pig, I used a piece of scrap brass drain pipe
picked up from the friendly plumber's shop near me.

I had to hunt around to find good deals for 2" tubing, though.
I was able to get a few "end cuts" from a company that installs custom railings
for bars or restaraunts. Later I picked up more of these end cuts found in a
bucket at a resale store! That was a surprise.
