Hello Scorpion
This may seem obvious but did you lube all the gears and bearing surfaces?
Every single electrical Meccano model I have constructed, without exception, would barely run until I lubed it. After that, they all ran outstanding!
Love this project, can you pm or email me the plans?

I did oil all surfaces seem like I went through a gallon of the stuff !!
I don't particularly like the design as in order to reverse you have to stop engine and restart so am thinking about next 1 and will leave engine in 1 direction and have all gear reversing should be a lot simpler I hope |

I need to get into Meccano, like there are not enough things to spend money on.
I like that a lot, real good job. _________________ Non Impedite Raditioni Cogitationis |

It does look impressive and it is not a waste of time as you have learnt something from it. _________________ Les - Nolo Servile Capistrum

That's not a waste of time. That's a damned good use of anybody's time. Well done. _________________ Regards

That is really cool! As complex looking as it is, I'd be surprised if it worked at all. _________________ Give us this day our daily Steam,

If you oiled it good then I imagine it should "run in" after a few hours.
All gear reversing sounds like the way to go to me for a single cylinder, non-self starting engine.
Stay on it, I know you can do it.

This is very impressive and far from a waste of time. It's reading about other's endeavours that inspire us to try something new.
It looks great, now where is my Meccano _________________ Chuff chuff!! |

| I've only recently got back into meccano and started on simple models. But that looks like a work of art whether it works properly or not. |
