I think that goes for anything made these days, whether its a car, a dvd player, mobile phone etc etc.
The quality of products has been getting worse

Most stuff is mass produced now and hardly touched by human hands but I would say things are cheaper now.
For example you can buy a tv for under $100 when TVs first came out where much more expensive.
Another example go ask your grandfather how many toys he had as a kid compared to how many kids today have. Kids today have much more toys because they are cheaper and because they are cheaper they are not as well made.
I agree most toys made today will not be around in 70 years time.

I know I am buying my son some more 'Thomas the Tank Engine' Duplo (lego) for christmas as atleast that seams still to be made to last, although I don't think Lego is good as it was 20 years ago as it is all much more themed not generic like it used to.
I'll go get my rocking chair and blanket now and reminisce about the 'Good Old Days' now.

Yep the old lego always was better!
Lego Land here in the UK had about 40 people through their gates at one point

The trouble is finding the time to make them.
Mine is all taken up with work, steam engines and jewellery making.
