Thats ony due to the way its marketed and sold in little plastic bottles.
In Australia ethonol is added to petrol to make it cheaper, up to 10% of volume of petrol is ethonol.
Think about it to make alcohol you grow some sugar, mix sugar with water and add yeast. Distil it and you have high quality fuel unlike petrol which you have to find underground, build a giant oil rig, drill down to it, extract it, and then process it before you get petrol.
Alcohol has got to be cheaper to make. _________________ http://www.freewebs.com/ozsteam/index.htm

Yes it might be cheaper to make Tmuir!

I don't mean for us to make it.
I mean in the long run it would make more sense to have cars run on ethonol than on petrol as it would be cheaper to produce than petrol and its sustainable unlike oil based products.

LOL I don't think it will go down with my fiesta too well Tony The one reason they don't is because they feel they can tax us more on petrol rather than sugar and yeast _________________ Solid Fuel tablets explode

I got a Marshall 10 ton Roller going in 2 hours (my first day on a road going engine!) But it had been lit up the weekend before, maybe the water was still warm... _________________ Si

no no, the one that blew a tube was a 5-6 ton Aveling and Barford (for some stupid reason it has a dog clutch to engage drive!!) That was the first engine I drove at Amberley, plus it has a nice seat so you can sit down whilst steering. Although it seems more difficult to steer sitting down than standing... _________________ Si

Scruffyroller did an apprenticeship (I think) at Amberley, and he says that Gisella (the name of the A & B) had those tubes for either 15 months or years (cannot remember). Either way the lasted a while anyway. The traction engines sadly dont get used much at Amberley _________________ Si
