I am fed up now. I got put on report from my french teacher, for doing nothing wrong.

I am fed up with it being one sided, so I wrote this to the Head Of Year (I have blanked out people's names):

Mrs Turner,

I am writing to you to inform you of the goings on in our French lessons. I and a number of fellow students have been deeply offended by some of the comments Mrs ****** has made towards us.

In the past, my family have been accused of not bringing me up properly. I felt very strongly about this matter, especially with the happenings a couple of years back where my mum nearly lost her life in a horse riding accident. I am very close to my family as well, and as you can understand, I saw it as a great offence.

On the 31st January, Mrs ****** was going to give ***** ***** a d-merit for not having an ink cartridge, and she gave ***** ****** one for her pen being broken and she couldn’t fix it. She wrote a note in **** *****'* planner, and commented once again about his family not being a good family. **** was also deeply offended at this, and I knew how he felt. I put my hand up and said “Miss, it is the person’s choice whether to be good or bad, not the family of which they come from”. I see that as true, and it is how I feel. I was just annoyed, as now she has said that to me, **** *****, ******* *****, ***** ******, ******** *******, and ***** *****.

She has also said to ******before that he is the “lowest of the low”. I think *******just needs a bit of help to understand French, not to be brought down like that. It isn’t inspiring at all.

Also, on January 31st, Mrs ****** told ******** off for trying to contribute to the lesson. In consequence to this, ********started crying. Then ***** asked ******** if she was ok, and again, ***** was told off. I, and others, have been wrongly accused on many occasions, resulting in the issuing of d-merits. ****** ******* also nearly got a d-merit, as he had his ruler on his desk. She said he didn’t have to have it out, when he did, because he needed to underline the title and date.

Maybe if I wasn’t shot down in flames every time I get something wrong, I would try harder at French. I enjoyed the subject up until this year, and this is one of the reasons I couldn’t do French GCSE because I hadn’t been learning, because I hadn’t been getting the help I needed.

The action on January 31st made me get the comment “argumentative” on my report card, simple because I said one thing, quoting on human rights. I would never dream of saying anything wrong about anybodies family, because I know how much they mean to them. I just feel it is a little one sided, as the other members of staff, such as yourself, only get to hear the one side of the story, from Mrs ******'* , and I just wanted the other side of the story to be heard, after all, there is two sides to every story. I just hope now, I, and my colleagues, can stop being degraded by the hurtful comments of the teacher, and get back to learning French.

Yours Sincerely

James Chantry (9F)

Reminds me of a biology teacher we had - for one term. He treated us all like infants (we were in the last year of GCE O levels). When somebody complained to the head; next lesson he was almost in tears saying "how dare somebody complain to my superior"! He "left" at end of term.

Good luck,
Must be French teachers (no offense to anyone), but our french teacher is a, well, use your imagination. I took spanish, and my teacher was really nice, coarse, she was fresh out of college and only like 25, and about 5'0.

I'm going to go for the "get her the sack" option.

If this does no good, I'm going to the head, and if that does no good, who knows...

Aye we got a queen

But I think not

Just something needs to be done. I have had countless letters sent home, been put on report, and had countless detentions because of the head of year not hearing our side! I did nothing wrong. If I get another detention because of the comment she put on my report, I refuse to go.

By how you talk in the other school thread, you get off pretty easy, we get detentions and suspensions for countless tedious things.

Good luck with it James.

Geez, how things have changed

I finished my final year of school in 1994, which meant from 1982-1988 I was in what we call Primary school.

Except 1988 for the most part of that insults and such by teachers to students was common.
As was physical punishment which varied from the cane, wooden rulers across knuckles even using the weather as punishment (I was once made to lay face down in the frosty grass for having food stuck to my workbook page).

I would never have dreamed of writing a letter like that as it would have got back to my teacher, and more punishment handed out

This was public schooling too, not private.

Anyway James, good luck with it

Aye, but she is French

I hate her guts, we all do, and we are fed up of it! So I'm leading the campaign to get her out!

Time for my rant:

Went into my Resistant Materials lesson, and was helping a mate with something. I had to go get some double sided sticky tape for him, as I was getting it my teacher suddenly said: You HAVE to change your project. Really p****d off, I'd almost completed my flip file (thats 25 A3 pages!) then I get told to redo everything I was originally making a 7 1/4 inch gauge riding truck, now I'm having to make a living van, Mamod sized of course. Although there are some upsides:
1) I get to drop PE and PSE after half term
2) I learn a few more techniques e.g. turning from solid
3) I might actually use the final product!

So a mixed bag of feelings here

What's that? All we had was "woodwork" or "metalwork" - and I was at a "Technical" school.
