A few years ago I bought this flatbase SE2.

I already fully restored it, but as you can see on the image, there where still a few things to be done. Since it was my first flatbase by that time, I didn't even know that the throttle lever and whistle lever shouldn't be that long

About a your ago I accidentally dropped the engine, there was no big damage to it, but there was some paint damage at the firebox corners:

Most people wouldn't bother, but being a bit of a perfectionist, it kept annoying me. So while I was painting another base red, I thought I'd do this one as well at the same time.

Soon enough it was stripped, and repainted again:

I also was able to repair the whistle, there was just a bit of pipe soldered over the original lever. The throttle lever was a bit more difficult, the extra piece there was welded onto it, so there was no way I could get that off.
Luckily I had a spare lying around, so that was also sorted easily.

After that, the engine now looks like this:

And here it's getting it's final inspection

That looks good as new.

BTW, that's a throttle, not a reversing lever, but we know what you meant.

Thanks, I knew it wasn't the right word, but just couldn't get what it should be. I've changed it now

I don't use any special device, I just use spray paint from a paint can. I've found that the perfect match is a color they sell as "rosso vivo" from the brand "trendy colorline". I have no idea if they sell that anywhere outside the Netherlands.

This is what it looks like:

I've used 1 layer of primer, 3 layers of red and 2 layers of clear lacquer.
