Many model hulls, especially tugs need extra weight added far in excess of the boiler's weight just to get the water line down to the water surface.

Hi David, Like Roly, I'm wondering about the function of the coil.

Great to see you getting decent performance now. I've had no luck sourcing those Saito parts unfortunately.
Miles the coil was just to keep the pipe tidy without having to cut it. i dont need any parts now as i have no need of the saito boiler, but thanks for looking.

David

I think if you cut out the coil or, idealy, superheat it, the engine would go even better If you need that length of pipe in the final configuration, it would be best to lag it well.
yes i will need nearly all the pipe roly. roughly 18 inches out of the 24 inch coil problem is the position of the boiler is fixed by the location of the smokestack on the superstructure and of course the engine with the propellor shaft. Is there a product available for lagging?

I just use string.
