this morning the weather was cold wet and windy, so it inspired me to fire up an engine or 2.
not only that but it also inspired me to write a poem titled
The passion of Steam
............................................
Steam is a passion
as you will know
to fire up an engine
and watch it go
Fill up with water
and light up the fire
and watch it whizz round
is our desire
Mamod, Wilesco
or even a Bing
to hear the sound
of that engine sing
What can be better
on a rainy day
to see a roller
chugging away
Lots of steam
and plenty of heat
to watch it run round
is really so neat
The smell of meths
the engine that steams
the vapour and oil
and brass that gleams
A boiler thats hot
a piston thats moves
the drive band in place
running in the groves
Some engines are old
and some are new
and we love then all
the selected few
So next time your'e bored
with nothing to do
dig out an engine
old or new
Then fire it up
and get it to run
the feeling you get
will not be glum
German, English
or the USA
whatever your choice
it will make your day
"STEAM ONE UP TODAY"

Jeez Jay. That poem is great.
I really enjoyed reading that mate.
I think that all of us here share your dream
Of firing these engines and watching them steam
What makes it better is our efforts to share,
Our wonderful hobby with members who care.
The world over, we greet our steam friends.
The fun on this forum just never ends.
The volume they post, sometimes makes me feel dizzy.
For full twenty four hours, this forum is busy.
Our members are here almost every day,
To help one another in any old way.
Where else can you log on and talk to a Moose?
Or find out the way to fix a whistle that's loose.
Need a part for an engine, and some advice
No doubt you'll get it at a very good price.
So Jay, thanks so much for taking the time.
To think up and post that wonderful rhyme.
These fine words will for sure stand the test,
With all of our members, Jay, you're one of the best. _________________ http://www.freewebs.com/sandmansteamshack/index.htm

The words and rhymes here are flowing
Good cheer and the friendships are growing
I’ll reply with a retort that’s mercifully short
Because it’s about time I was going!
Great poems guys!
