Won this recently:

Nice mint French set . . . I like them.
Needed some more parts for the test bed and my crane.
Been tinkering around with the idea for a while - something Roly mentioned go me thinking!
Will post up pics soon . . . . |

A few pics, still tinkering around with a few ideas - just a good excuse to relax with some Meccano . . .
Hopefully I will get something that will allow the engine to run under steam and also turn over woth the aid of an electric motor too.
A nice clean set - just how I like my Meccano.

Nice one Mike, I may have to construct one myself, although it may mean having to take apart my beloved crane _________________ Si

Decided to go for a chain drive, with rubber tyres flange wheels to hold the wheel in position. Still stuff to do, but you get the idea.
If it works OK Ill bring it to STIA next year as Im going for a mobile themed display. |

Nice one. I was thinking along the lines of having rollers under the wheels at the front as well (or roller in the case of an SR1). Then having a drive belt going from the back rollers of the rolling road to those at the front. Then all the wheels would go round when the engine is ran.
I have too many other things to do at the moment, but instead of using meccano I was thinking of using small rollers used for conveyor belts. So two rollers for the front wheels, two rollers for the back wheels with them connected with a drive belt.
Nice job, will be good to see how it goes. Nice idea with the electric motor, I hadn't thought of doing that at all. _________________ Chris

Looks great Mike. Maybe at STIA 2008 I could put my showmans on it, power the wheel which powers the dynamo _________________ Forum Founder, Owner and Admin.
