The Mamods engines I stripped down had no primer and my repaint of my Se3 I didnt use a primer but that was only because my local paint shop doesn't sell heat proof primer but I do know its available and if I can get some I will use it.

They must have sprayed the bases and fireboxes and baked it on! The new mamod engines don't smell of paint, nor does my SE4 now its been baked in the oven!

Thats pretty conclusive then! I wouldn't have thought they changed it much, if it's not broken then don't "fix" it

Got some more pictures I just took outside

I've soldered the pipe in now. No idea how those two spots of solder got there, but it wasn't my doing

Now i'm just waiting for the decal to go on the base, and the oiler cap . I can't wait to fire it either

I'll get some dirt on it when I can run it Mike as soon as the oiler cap arrives, and the burner is sorted

Cheers Sandy!

I was just looking at a Bowman loco that did 410 a few days ago

I paid less than that for my SE4, so i'm happy

Will look even better with the decal, which will be here soon I hope

Appearance wise I would say so MM! Its a very clean machine - but whatever the condition the SE4 club is a very select one, some may never be members . . . . Its a great looking example mate!

MM, what sort of water plug does your SE4 have? It looks different somehow from others.
