After an e-mail to Alan at PPS to jolly him up a bit the name plates for Arthur arrived today.

They are very good quality (though at £7.50 should be).

Excuse the dust, I need to wipe over it.

For those who missed an earlier post, the loco had an accident with a step ladder, and now has a dent in his boiler, so I named him Arthur... Arthur Dent.

I was going to use araldite, and I might do yet. I was wondering what to use so I did a webseach and found a garden railway forum where someone was asking the question. The answer seemed to be...

...double sided sticky tape!

So I have used that. I figure that if they fall off no harm is done and I can try with something stronger.

I stuck mine on with 2 ton strength Epoxy resin (no going back now!) but mine aren't from PPS, mine are homemade... They look the part but aren't up to PPS standards!

I will use araldite if these fall off.

Really impressed with the quality of them though. Not cheap, but very nice. Glad I got them anyway. Think Arthur deserved a treat.

If the weather is good at the weekend I will give him a run and see if they hold on when he heats up.

Just come back in after spending ages outside running Arthur. Went through several top ups of meths and several of water.

Running very well as usual, and the nameplates remained on! I tried to do a video, but the batteries went flat so only got a few seconds.

Not bad for "the worst model Mamod ever made"
