WOW. Steve.

That's worth a try mate.

I'll give it a go tomorrow and let you know how I get on.

I would just like it to be that bit better than what I'm achieving at present.

(Got to divert attention from the chimney)

Well, I tried everything but this engine had too many flaws to be a real Sandman Shiney.

There's a lot of pitting on the base and the firebox and a good few dings and scratches on the brass.

Couldn't get a finish at all.

I've done my best with it and at least it looks a bit better.

There's nothing wrong with that. It looks fantastic! Is it a good runner?

I would have liked it to have been a bit better Steve.

As you see, the chimney is a bit rough, but it's my first effort and I can always revisit it later.

It was the pitting in the aluminium that beat me. It was just too deep to polish out and it looks like a dirty mark on the surface.

It's a grand runner mate. Here's a vid before I cleaned it up.

Yes it's a great runner. It sounds just like mine! I had quite a bit of priming when I ran mine too, but it seems to be OK if I put in about 70cc of water.

don't forget Sandy that these engines aren't brand new and considering the age and the condition you bought it in its come up a treat I'd say!

You can't get perfection with metal thats been exposed for many years! Don't think you've failed enjoy the engine mate

Thanks MM.

I just thought I could have got it better.

It's still a valued part of my collection though and a good buy at the price.

Look on the brightside Sandy

You can fire it without any fear of paint burning off

A very good buy, you've had a few recently

Hoo-haaa! Oh, that's hilarious, Sandy-because it seems like only yesterday, in
a certain motel room somewhere in the Detroit area, I was being described as
one who can do some brilliant work but then says, "Well yes, but I goofed up
on this area and I really think this or that part could've been done better..."!
Now, who do you suppose had said that?

Really, the Cyldon looks great. It certainly has benefitted from your enviable skills!
