Tom, don't know if it makes you feel any better, but I recently had a German parcel containing an engine take exactly 8 weeks to arrive. Arrived in perfect shape, but where it hid for all that time is anyone's guess. Last time I flew it, you can travel from German to the US in under 10 hours by air.

Same problem has occured on US>UK shipment I sent to Mooseman, I think it was 6-7 weeks in transit. Arrived in perfect shape, but again, disappeared into a parallel universe for reasons unknown (customs?).

Keep the faith, I'm betting you WILL receive it eventually, but it wouldn't hurt to confirm with seller that he got your correct name and address on it...if he shipped to Australia vs. Austria...it's going to be lost for even longer...but even those eventually turn up.

good luck,
Roger

All, dont know if it makes you feel any better ( or in my case worse )About a year ago I bought a midwest steam engine just like the one I have now from rcplanesandtrains on ebay. I did not have paypal at the time so I sent a money order for about 50 bucks, nothing never came except an email that said we are going out of buisness and dont have your item, they asked if I wanted the money order back and I said yes. it never came i complained to ebay and nothing ever happend. So i'm still out 50 bucks or a steam engine. Oh well live and learn, but now I got paypal if i dont get the item I can just tell my dad not to pay for it.

Yep, and he says he'll try to have it traced. Sure. Uninsured? How can anybody trace it? It's not registered! (imagine a healthy f-word here). I could kick my own ass for not having paid insured shipment. Penny pinching me.
Sorry to be such a whining sod.
Good to talk to you guys about it.
Hell, it's okay, me mum's son will get over it.
Cheers, mate!

Very sorry to hear it mate.

Hopefully it will be found for you. I don't know what the mail is like over there, but here in Australia, we have literally had mail take a week to arrive, that should take a day.

And while we're on the topic of pronunciation....Mr Jensen Sr would have originally pronounced his name "Yensen". True!

I have no idea mate, that's a tricky one.

I would say the nown bit is pronounced as known.

So Re known. Just the word Known, with Re in front of it

Oi, friends! The thing arrived today. Why it took the mail to get it from Munich to Vienna in only 13 days, f... knows. Pardon my poor choice of words, but I'm mightily pissed. I paid 40 Euros with shipping for this crud. Dig the pix, seller's and mine, after opening the box. I'll try and see if I can remove the 1000Kgs of dust, rust and substances, whose chemical construction I do not dare to fathom. The piston seems sound, though. I guess I'll file this as "expierience" and move on. I've never had trouble with ebay yet; this is a first. Oh, well. At least it's not hitting a poor person (now, there's irony). Thanks for your encouraging words, lads! I'll keep y'all posted if I can breathe some life back into this metal corpse says
Your all pal Tom

Hmmm a very misleading picture from the seller, it should fix up ok!

I usually avoid items with pictures like that, almost like he's got something to hide.....he did....

Not being familiar with Wilescos, does the steam pipe require soldering back onto the boiler?

If you want to you can ask the seller for partial refund and if he says no take it up with ebay.

Its obviously going to require a few evening of work but providing the boiler is sound it should be fixable.

The steam pipe is able to be taken off since it has a little bolt on it. you can just see it in the picture.

Yo, me friends! I might sound pathetic and probably do. But as I tinker with this wreck, it seems to come alive. Parts start to shine, others try feebly to do the same. Rust goes and leaves scars, like years do to a man. "Hey!" the wreck says, "I have a history. Now you're part of it. Bring me back!"
Will do my best. But igg!! You smell like cellar. I'm gonna wash you and sand off your rust. And then ...
Oooookaaaay, I'll cut the rubbish! Yet, you guys know exactlly what I mean.

... seems so, for all the rubbish I post. No, honest, I don't go to any bars (well, at least not every day). Are you here in town? And what gave me away of being an Austrian of US-Irish-German extraction?

Well, the patter and the "up the republic" were a bit of a giveaway.

reason I'm asking, my brother-in-law lives and works in Vienna, in an Irish bar the name of which momentarily eludes me.....he also plays rugby for Austria.

It may sound odd, but what you are now going through, with the wreck coming alive through a restoration, it's all part of the fun of collecting.

If the currency convertor is right, 40 Euros = $64 OZ which is an absolute bargain.

I recently saw a Wilesco engine (just the engine, no base, boiler, firebox or pipes) go for about the same price.

Anyway, I look forward to seeing the results, and good luck
