yes we would love to id the engine.......its flywheel is 4 1/2 dia.....it has a 3 inch (75mm) boiler........the boiler from the bottom to the top of the flue is 13 inches. the engine is about the same size as clintons big fleichmann. the firebox base is cast zinc ....im sure it isnt scratch built.....the boiler looks so "weldon" .......one thing is for sure its a beauty.......definitely equal to a large fleichman/bing.....perseus...

a bit more on the engine......whilst cleaning up out the back of the shed behind heaps of steam books the guys found this engine...... nobody knows where it came from??? one thing for sure its been there over 5/6 years....i was told there was a steam engine but the son of the member picked it up!!! the member donated his miniture steam pumps...if it belonged to this guy......the engine would have been a kit......but we think the boiler is a weldon tho.........anyway....its now been claimed by the shed.....meaning it now belongs to the members..... meaning liz and clinton have to share it!!! i will make a burner for it this week.   somehow we will have to figure out how to stop other shed members from steaming it!! ????? we will try and keep it for the model part of the shed.

the engine does look like doll but its zinc??? is your weldon 13 inches high chris...with a three inch boiler...... i saw your pics on tonys website.......  the safety valve looks the same  and the the steam pipe connection on the boiler is the same....the base looks similar.....has the weldon base got cast "rivet "heads ???  the whistle!!!!!       looks like a renown whistle!!!!the chimney is removeable. anyway im sure we will see heaps of this engine in steam as we display it and pass it around..

I'm pretty sure its not a Weldon boiler.
I would say it is all German, but I don't know which brand.
Weldon cast bases don't have cast rivets on them, but Bing engine bases do.

We need Mirko for the definitive answer, but I'm 100% sure that's German, and 99% sure it's Bing.

I'd say Märklin and early

They are so similar as to be deceptive

Is that the steam cleaner in action?
It does a great job

It's hard to say...  The ring where the boiler meets the firebox is a good clue to ID an engine...  Haven't seen a Doll, Bing or Marklin that look like that yet...  Are those screws or rivets holding that boiler on..?
