I created a monster!

The last 20 seconds or so the engine really got the hang of it, on video the sounds doesn't seem harder, but it actually woke up my wife who was already asleep. I think I'll rename my boat "Satan".

I had to add weight to keep the tubes under water, but that wouldn't slow it down.

It indeed sounds like a machine gun.

I don't know why it does that, the output is quite constant. Maybe it has something to do with the design of the boiler.

This is how the boiler looks like. It consist of 3 plates, the lower plate which forms the boiler (blue), a 2nd plate (black) which has a rounded shape smaller than the size of the boiler and on top of that the 3th plate (red) which is the membrane. The membrane is soldered only to the edges so it can expand over a large area, the area during the vacuum fase of the engine is restricted by the 2nd plate.

I have curved extension pipes I put on to test it...

Are you sure there isn't any leaks between the pipes and the extensions? Best is to solder them permanently so that heat is transfered over the lenght of the pipes. You want a hot boiler and cool pipes. (If pipes get too hot the oscillating proces takes place in the pipes instead of the boiler, making the boiler hotter and thereby making the pipes also hotter. This proces will continue untill the boiler fails because of overheating or the engine will just stall.)

My wife won't let my build a permanent Putt-Putt pool in the garden like Daryl has.
