Spotted this rotting away in a country town called Nannup in the SW of Oz back in April (yea just got around to sorting pix )

anyway, thought some of you 12" to the foot types might appreciate them :-;

..and no, it wasn't me who liberated the engine number from the name plate !

It is sad looking but to be honest I have seen worse.

Do they have any plans to restore her or is it going to be left to rust away?

At least it's under cover. I've seen a lot worse.

It would be good to see it restored, if possible. It all depends on the state of the boiler.

I doubt it, it's been there as long as I can remember. I first noticed it in that area about 20 years ago.   Theres not much of a historical steam interest in these parts.  You do have the restored and active Hotham Valley Railway a bit further north of that place, but thats about it.

It doesnt look that bad, mostly just light surface rust.

I suspect itll survive for a very long time undercover in such a dry place.

More like someone has tried to lever it off and it has broken.

I guess the local shire council;  it was used in the old logging industry that  was prevalent in that area years ago, so at a guess, it was donated by one of the now defunct mills to the local council.

Just a guess mind..

More than likely Pauly is right, it's just a cracked casting, which is not a rare thing. If it were a steal job they would've ground off the rivets first. Also, it takes some considerable force to break something like that, so the lever would have left noticeable scratch marks on the back plate.
